White House press secretary Jen Psaki promised to "choose my words more carefully" following a Friday complaint from Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), which claimed she apparently violated the Hatch Act.

In the complaint, the nonpartisan non-profit U.S. government ethics and accountability watchdog group called on the Office of Special Counsel to investigate Psaki for comments she made from the White House podium Thursday regarding the Virginia gubernatorial campaign.

In response to the complaint, Psaki told Fox News, "While the president has publicly expressed his support for McAuliffe, we’ll leave it to the press and the campaign to provide commentary on the race. I take ethics very seriously and will choose my words more carefully moving forward."

Police and protesters clashed outside the building, and officers used Tasers and batons against several unarmed protesters, representatives for the activist group said. The group said 55 participants were arrested. The dramatic scenes came during five days of demonstrations in the capital organized by a group calling itself 'People vs Fossil Fuels', which is demanding that President Joe Biden cease approvals for fossil fuel infrastructure and lead a renewable energy transformation.

Comedian Jon Stewart said the media's hyper-focus on former President Donald Trump is a mistake and that casting him as an "incredible supervillain" distracts from other threats.

The former "Daily Show" host told CNN's Jake Tapper in an interview airing Sunday that political pundits are "making a mistake" blaming Trump for the country's divisive discourse, arguing they should turn their focus to the threat posed by much larger institutions that have dangerously embraced "the idea that power is its own reward."

"I think we make a mistake focusing this all on Donald Trump, as if he's … Magneto and some incredible supervillain that has changed the very nature and temperature of the U.S.," Stewart said. "He's just been an effective vessel, but he's not singing new songs. … I think it's a mistake to focus it all on this one individual and not to focus it more on the idea that power is its own reward whether it be in the financial industry or government. Power doesn't cede itself, and unless we can figure out a better way to balance out that power … we'll be vulnerable."

When I say that given enough time things collapse under the weight of their own bullshit, this is what I am talking about.

Hopefully we'll start to see a correction. IMO all the insanity we've endured has been made worse by the vilification of Trump. They've created a moral high ground composed of pure steaming horseshit to stand on and lecture and berate and cancel those ignorant enough to suggest the king has no clothes. Of course, a statement like that brands you a Neandertal Trump supporter and the instant boiling hatred of quite a few people. I'd point out that the Proud Boys and other extremists are no different than any number of Wokists or those nitwits that stormed the Interior Department. The ones who benefit the most are the professional agitators that have been making the circuit. Like in a labor dispute, the company that rents out the giant inflatable rat is the clear winner.

As a reaction to DT the democratic party launched a successful media campaign that resulted in what we are seeing now. Quite a few people have been programmed by the media in a way that MK Ultra never dreamed possible. Started with the Steele Dossier which was a blatant fabrication given the Goebbels treatment - irrelevant that it has been discredited, the message got out. Thing is, the republicans have their own schtick and DT absolutely positively cannot speak coherently outside of a rally. IF the man has real talent - and I suspect he does far more so than the hair sniffer or giggler - he doesn't convey it at all. Thing is, you want to see real Russian collusion and a powerful lobby close to the presidency just look to the NRA. I am not looking forward to the next couple of years.

Please don't fuck up my retirement. Everything else after that is just details to me. If they do maybe I'll volunteer for one of those one-way colony vessels headed to Mars.

MSNBC regular warns Ocasio-Cortez, far-left are 'suicide for the Democrats'

MSNBC regular Donny Deutsch predicted Monday that progressives' socialist push to the left would lead to "disaster" in upcoming elections, and that parading far-left Democrats like "the Squad's" Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., would be "suicide for Democrats."

During an appearance on MSNBC's "Morning Joe," Deutsch said President Joe Biden didn't "have the hearts and minds" of Americans. The liberal commentator predicted Biden would lose "by over double digits" to almost any Republican nominee for president in 2024, and could easily lose to former President Donald Trump if he ran again.

"I would like to see some polls today. First, a poll of Trump against Biden, which i think Trump would eke out a victory. But then I want to see polls with Nikki Haley or Ron DeSantis or fill in the blank and they would win by over double digits," Deutsch said.

He added that people he talks to in deep-blue New York City were experiencing a feeling of "unrest" because of the way Democrats were running things in Washington and didn't feel Biden was in control.

Scarborough agreed, imploring Democrats to understand they were "so radically out of step with mainstream voters," and that he was hearing those complaints from lifelong liberals and progressives.

"There were Bill Clinton voters. There were Barack Obama voters. There weren't Joe Biden voters. There were anti-Trump voters … And Joe Biden does not have the hearts and mind of this country," Deutsch said. "And the other Democrats that we see being paraded forward – the AOC's of the world, the far left – are suicide for the Democrats."

"So the Democrats better get some new faces, and the Democrats better figure out that this world lives just right of center or, on a good year, just left of center … This socialist kind of pulling all the way to the left is a disaster and we are staring at a democracy in peril," he added.

In response to an American Civil Liberties Union questionnaire reported by The San Francisco Chronicle last month, Chesa Boudin said such crimes should not be prosecuted.

“We will not prosecute cases involving quality-of-life crimes,” he said. “Crimes such as public camping, offering or soliciting sex, public urination, blocking a sidewalk, etc., should not and will not be prosecuted. Many of these crimes are still being prosecuted; we have a long way to go to decriminalize poverty and homelessness.”
