I don't know if I mentioned this before or not. I was sitting in the medicenter office waiting to see a doctor when I noticed that this young man wanted a signed doctor's note stating that he was not sick with Corona Virus so that he could get a bed at a homeless shelter.
The receptionist said that he had to pay $35 cash up front to get one of these notes. He sheepishly said okay and then turned to walk away. It instantly made me angry. I stood up positioned myself to the middle of the room and said very loudly, "He just told you he was homeless and needed a note stating he was not sick with the virus before the shelter will give him a bed. Where is he suppose to get $35 to pay for the doctors autograph? We do not pay for healthcare in Canada so, all he really would be paying for is the doctors signature which in this case pretty much adds up to an autograph fee." He stopped dead in his tracks, turned around and said, "Yeah, how am I suppose to come up with $35?" It just so happened that the doctor was walking through the room at that moment. He got the letter for free.
The reason I mentioned the above is because I know for a fact that you must be fully vaccinated before they will let you sleep in a homeless shelter and they do not allow for any type of medical exemption here in Canada and our vaccinations are covered under healthcare.
The reason I mention the above is because...
His family said in a statement that he "was a loving, artistic, brilliant and kind human being."

Some are saying he died from an overdose of fentanyl, but his cause of death has not yet been determined.
He was taken way too young. RIP Austin
