Bikini-clad vegan protesters cover themselves in fake blood before lying on the ground pretending to be packaged meat in bizarre protest in London's Trafalgar Square
  • Women covered themselves in fake blood before lying on the ground in London
  • They drew large crowds in Trafalgar Square during the demonstration
  • It was part of a protest against so-called 'speciesism' - an ideology that apparently considers the lives of animals 'as not worthy of respect'

The protest featured activists laying on a large tray covered in plastic and fake blood replicating a 'meat tray'.

Other protesters held signs urging passersby to go vegan - with another saying that meat is 'violence, not food'.

The women laying on the ground also wore labels branded 'human meat' reading: 'Weight: Never ask a lady.'

One member of the group, who did not give their name, said: 'We as vegans want to show other people there's a compassionate way to live and how to treat animals.

'We want to stop this animal cruelty, we want to stop the meat trade, the fur trade, the leather trade, and we want to show people there's a way of living without animal products.

'If people look at it from a health perspective, if they want to improve their health they can do a vegan lifestyle.

'If people care about or love animals and they don't want to cause any harm to them, they'll also do a vegan lifestyle.

'And some people might do it for the environment when they realise meat eating and animal agriculture is the number one cause of pollution in the world.'

You can Respect Animals and still hunt them when you need food. I do not know where they got the idea meat eaters think animals are below us. It is actually the opposite. Any good hunter knows his prey could kill him, heck just the trip into the woods could take his life.

There's a difference though between hunting for substance and survival and the inhumane cruelty of slaughter houses. The companies producing the meat care little for humane slaughter. All they care about is profit. Cruelty is neither necessary nor justified. IMO anyway.

True Large Scale Slaughter houses are gross. I either get my meat locally or hunt it. I can agree if this protest is about Cruelty of man against animal in those large scale slaughter houses. If it is about all meat eaters I have to disagree. I do understand why people in larger cities do decide to go vegetarian or vegan. As for me, i will continue to hunt and forage like a man was meant to. On the none-hunting seasons, I will eat a microwave pizza or some Cup'o'noodles or maybe go fishing. Fishing sounds nice right now. But yeah I do agree Big Slaughter Houses are an affront to Nature.
