Good on them, the people spending good money to watch these sporting events should be letting these NFL players know this is a disgusting display or arrogance to take a knee during the national anthem...

A New England Patriots fan who was outraged by players' taking a knee at last Sunday's game organized a jersey-burning party as his own protest.

A hundred people showed up at Mark Shane's home in Swansea, Massachusetts, for the event on Thursday night.

Together they tossed Patriots jerseys and t-shirts into a small, contained fire pit while singing America The Beautiful and reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.

Shane, 61, was one of thousands of fans who watched as several Patriots players took a knee during the National Anthem before their game against the Houston Texans on September 24.

On Monday, he announced his plan to host his own peaceful protest of their protest.

'If you have a Patriots jersey please bring it so we can burn it. This is our right to protest what they did.'

The next day, he placed a picket sign in his front yard announcing the event and was thrilled by the turnout on Thursday.

'I think it was a great success. I think people were united, I think people love our country and I think it sends a great message to the NFL and any divisive type actions will not be tolerated during sports,' he told local CBS affiliate WBZ.

Many of those who attended the party were veterans. They complained that the NFL protests disrespect the sacrifices they made for the country during their service.

All this taking a knee is disrespectful that flag/anthem stands for the history of the entire country since it's inception. I could go into more detail but it's pointless, I like the way one team expected 100% participation in their protest yet when that US Ranger stood out in respect of the Anthem they were upset because he didn't do what the wanted.. all this black lives matter crap is bollocks all lives matter, there are more blacks killed by other blacks than any bad apple cops. but that seems to be ignored in favour or raging against Police and white people in general...Bloody ridiculous...

‘Sunday Night Football’ Ratings Down Again On Day Of Player Protests

I'm a lifelong Redskins fan and I did not bother to watch the Sunday Night game. They pulled an upset and clobbered the Raiders, a team I really, really hate but I did not watch the game and did not miss the game. In fact, it was probably the best game they've played in years. The only reason I watch football is for enjoyment. I no longer enjoy it and no longer watch it.

I've had all I can stand of the shame game!

Everywhere you go now there is someone trying to shame you -- with every breath you take you're racist or homophobic or sexist, etc.

Green Bay is quite possibly the most conservative city in the league and has a only a tiny minority population. Aaron Rogers is an idiot if he thinks his fans will go along with his unpatriotic BS.

This will ultimately cost the NFL hundreds of millions of dollars. I saw a sign from a fan in a stadium that said something like "Protest on your own time, not on my dime."

Yeah it's getting utterly ridiculous...

When the NFL players went on strike back in the 1980s it was a big deal. Nowadays, with the internet, videos on demand, and a thousand TV channels to choose from, we can all survive without pro football. I think the NFL is really underestimating the anger of its viewers.

The agenda they're pushing must be massive considering the amount of money they're willing lose. Could it be to divide America to initiate a civil war?

I agree, what these players are doing is a firing offense, they are doing a job and getting paid millions, the NFL commissioner should make a stand against this asinine protest...

They only put up with Colin Kaepernick until be became a threat to the entire football industry.

A big problem with this protest is that it's against very generic problems like inequality and injustice. I dare say these issues will not be resolved anytime soon so there is no endgame.

As far as I'm concerned I don't care if you want to take a knee. Want to know why? As a veteran I fought so people can do this. I fought to uphold the constitution. If we didn't allow these players to exercise their 1st amendment right, and or force them we would be no better then North Korea or any other dictatorship. They aren't disrespecting the flag either, they are kneeling for the anthem, not the flag.

Plus I think we have bigger things to worry about than people exercising their 1st amendment right peacefully about the very real racial injustice. Where was everybody losing their minds when in Dallas, TX a group of protesters were spitting on police officers and doing everything but a peaceful protest? But I'm sure that was ok but it's totally out of line for some NFL players to peacefully take a knee? Give me a break... America, you have truly lost your way.

It's their country too and they have the right to peacefully protest in their country because of a document we have called the constitution. Something I served to protect. So for me getting pissy for people using the right I served to protect would be very, very stupid of me. Perhaps you would be better suited for a country with a dictator who demands you to do whatever or die? Is that the America you served for?

If people gave half the shits they are giving for people bending their knee during the anthem for things that actually matter America would be a great place. But people's heads are all in the wrong places.

Of course it's their country too until they reject this countries laws and foundations which includes the constitution...That is what they protest, as I said, if they don't like this country or its laws then leave, simple...

What laws and foundations are they braking by kneeling? Oh yeah, that's right. None. They are using their given right per the constitution of the United States of America to protest peacefully. This is AMERICA not a dictatorship.

This whole thing is another example imho of how stuff gets blown out of proportion by those with certain ideologies....in this case those that think the players are somehow disrespecting the US and related issues by doing this.
I don't even understand why the National Anthem (most people don't even sing and seem embarassed ) ,etc are even played at any privately funded corporation owned sports events (last time I looked the NFL was a private big money corp)....what does the National Anthem have to do with those?
I can see it at the Olympics, amateur events, Little League, and government sponsored Federal or State events .....but why at Baseball, Hockey, and Football games presented by rich private corps? I have never understood this.
BTW...I recently discovered that your tax dollars.....that's right Federal dollars support the NFL and probably other leagues. ...yet ticket prices are through the roof. What's wrong with this picture...?
Why don't we just take the Anthem and all the other patriotic bs out of these private games and then we wouldn't have this moronic issue at all....? Or does that seem too simple and easy?

I believe it was only until 2004 that all players in sports except baseball had to come out on the sideline during the national anthem to make America seem more patriotic. Prior to that they would be in the locker room and come out after. In baseball however it has always been tradition to put the hat over the heart.

The thing is though is that the players are not even disrespecting the country or the flag. They are protesting racial injustice, and they feel the national anthem verse "equality and justice for all" may not apply to people of color.
