Patriots fans burn team jerseys after players take a knee during National Anthem

This isn't about the 1st amendment, obviously...

These guys get paid to do their job and if their job requires them to stand they must, clearly their job isn't defined well enough for the money they make...If I refused to do something my employer expects of me I will be fired, as those players who kneel should also be fired...

Before 2009 they stood in the tunnel during the National Anthem.

So no it has nothing to do with freedom of speech.

If the team decided it they would wait in the locker room.

People who say it is about freedom of speech are either lying or too stupid to talk to.

And freedom of speech doesn't apply to the private sector ... sort of.

You only get to call your boss an *sshole in front of the rest of the staff once.

I agree with Nivek, It is a disgusting act. This isn't about freedom of speech or making some point, This at its core psychologically is simply a plea for attention.

This whole taking a knee thing is simply a bid for attention, And that is disgusting. :(

Is it in their contracts to stand for the Anthem (which imo shouldn't even be played at a private sporting event where major money is being made....since it has nothing to do with America)...?
Does their employer...and is that the actual team or the NFL,,, expect them to stand...has this ever been discussed with the players when they were hired..?
A lot of unclear aspects to this.

No, it is not in their contract to stand for the anthem. I honestly still don't give a shit if they sit, stand, take a knee, salute, dance around, etc.

Huh???

Where have you been???

You must not be from around here.

There are other more appropriate ways for these infantile children to express their point of view. They haven't advanced their cause. They have just angered a lot of Americans. I am sympathetic to all points of view - I give them a hearing (that for me is sympathy), however since these protests started I haven't understood what their point is and don't care to. When I see them kneeling I see red and move on.

When I played high school football we stood for the national anthem with our hands over our hearts.

There is no doubt that if someone had knelt, that they would be kicked off the team, the only question is whether they would be suspended from school.

We have let narcissistic self-absorbed *ssholes destroy America long enough.

Yep..that's about how I feel too , but apparently there are few right wing *ssholes who feel otherwise by the look of a few posts here.

Yes..we sure have ....and have you looked in the mirror lately?

:D

I'm not a vain narcissistic self-centered self-absorbed leftist so gazing in the mirror isn't high on my list of priorities, unless I am shaving.

Perhaps you want to get into a discussion of the stupidity, dishonesty, bigotry, narcissism, immorality, unethicality, hypocrisy, disloyalty, etc. of the left? That would best be done in another thread.

No ...you are a vain narcissistic self-centered self-absorbed rightist....and we can get into a discussion of the stupidity, dishonesty, bigotry, narcissism, immorality, unethicality, hypocrisy, disloyalty, etc. of the right....but that might be for another thread.....as you said.
Anyone who thinks that the politicians on the right are somehow morally superior to the left or any other group in Washington these days has their head so far up their ass they'll never see daylight again.

As usual you are wrong. I'm not a rightist, never have been.

I'm a libertarian and show up in the middle of the viewpoint spectrum on both axes (almost dead center) on any online test I've taken.

The fact that the MSM makes me look like an alt-right person says a lot about the MSM.

I live a little more than spitting distance from DC and don't believe politicians are morally superior to anybody. But they might be better than bureaucrats.

As far as opening a thread about the left - bring it.

So whomever disagrees with you is right wing, typical left wing mentality...

Yes..I'm a Libertarian also....gee, we can say whatever we like since it's an anonymous forum and no one knows if we are telling truths or not.......isn't that grand.?

You know as well as I do that we can both find plenty to disparage on both the left and the right when it comes to what's going on in politics....beyond that it's a meaningless point. A thread on this would be pointless as anyone can post junk from the net. But ...by all means feel free to start one and I'll oblige you by feeding into your right wing..er excuse me , Libertarian beliefs.

Oh no...you misunderstand.....I'm a Libertarian .... now convince me that you are a liberal or Libertarian....
I'm all ears.

I'm none of the above because I'm not politically motivated, I live my life my way, not what some political party says...

This simple correct statement has been called racist hate speech and prompted police investigations:

By this standard "Black lives Matter" is racist hate speech and its advocates should have been rounded up and arrested.

As is obvious - calling this white piece of paper racist hate speech means you think "it isn't ok to white".

That opinion is hateful, racist, and offensive.

It was posted in schools. Harvard and Montgomery County among others have tried to identify and punish the perpetrators. Both locales allow if not actively promote "Black Lives Matter" postings.

That is pure and simple racism.

I'm in the Milo Yiannopoulos camp.

The white supremacists have a first amendment right to speak. The left doesn't have a first amendment right to stop them.

I think it is far to say both Milo and I think the white supremacists are idiots. But the people on the far left are worse idiots. They can both jabber all they want. We aren't obligated to listen.
