The Perseid Meteor Shower will peak on Aug. 12th at 13:00 EDT. The day before & the day after are also good times to watch. The debris comes from comet Swift-Tuttle.

I like watching this, but I'll be in NYC on the 12th, won't be able to see much celestial events lol..

Yeah, I imagine the level of light pollution in NYC is extreme.

I've seen a couple here in Chicago I haven't seen any this year I'm hoping for another chance tonight. But the last persiad I saw about 5 in these light polluted skies that's better than noting haha

Just look for the darkest spot you can find. For me that's a little corner in my yard that blocks my neighbors lights and the lights in the alley. A hood over your head helps, just try to block out as much light as you can
