Pets of the expanse!

Pie peed a little on the couch last night and we may have found one or two other spots. We'll have her checked by the vet this week, she's otherwise fine. She's not drinking endlessly like she was when the adrenal gland went wonky, I am hoping this is just age. She'll be 11 in August.

Monitoring.

Aven is 99.999 percent house broken, he now wakes us up once at night to go outside inside of the alternative...He hasn't had an 'accident' inside in five days and counting...I have a small dry eraser board in my workshop I brought into the house and marked it up to mimic one of those accident signs like at work...It currently says "5 days without an accident" lol...

Aven is four and half months old and getting big, he goes to the vet on Friday and we will weigh him there...If I had to guess I'd say he's up to about 60 lbs and also getting tall...His front paws are huge lol, this picture doesn't do it justice...

My brother gives me 'family heirlooms' he has hoarded. Joy. Recently he sent me two lapel pins from our uncle that had some significance. At least they are smaller than the last pile of .... heirlooms. I put them in a small manila envelope and tucked it in the spot where I toss my wallet, keys, all that.

For reasons known only to Frank I found the envelope on the floor and one of the pins missing. That was a few weeks ago so I am past worrying about ingestion but for the past two days I have torn this room completely apart. Not an easy task, it's my den filled literally with stuff. No pin. It's all clean now, but no friggin' pin and I could've lived with the dust. I don't actually care but don't want to hear it if my brother should ever ask.......

Only Frank knows. He couldn't have gone for the other stuff in there, nooooooooo that would be too easy. It had to be the one thing ...... because cats. Talk about zeroing in on a target like a dive bomber. See, a dog would probably want to help you find it. Cats mock you while you struggle and then demand food.

He's a week away from being 5 months old, I'm assuming he will be twice his size by 8 or 10 months old...He's also strong for his age, I sprained 2 fingers today helping him in the car...He.pushed off my hand to get his back legs in and twisted as he pushed, twisting my index and middle fingers in the process...Both fingers are swollen a bit and stiff, I can move them all around with some pain so nothing is broken...He can get on the couch by himself but he can't get in the car without help, not yet anyway...

It's the keychain I used for the Saab. I don't want to use it for another car purely out of superstition and decided to repurpose it

Apparently we were allowed a few short months of respite from one pet health thing after another so I could tend to my hip, now The ******g Universe has thrown us another curve.

Our cats are ten years old and perfectly healthy. Frank recently developed 'twitchy cat syndrome' meaning he seems surprised and frightened by his tail. It's increasing in frequency and our vet suggested we take him to The Guardian and we will. She thinks it's neurological.

They really are next level and if anyone can pinpoint the problem it's them. I'd expect a day visit, blood draw, probably a CT. I'll just go downstairs and lubricate the money printing machine I keep in the basement. If they start talking surgery our answer will be 'no' most likely. I've read there may be medications to help with this, possibly daily injectables. I did that for a diabetic cat we had and it's actually ridiculously easy, assuming it's just under the skin.

Shit. Shit and more shit.

We see a neurologist Monday May 5 for him. Frank is otherwise totally normal. I am going downstairs now to slam my head in a door a few times until I stop thinking clearly.

Ugh, sorry to hear that. Mine are pretty healthy right now, I sure hope that stays for awhile. 2024 was very expensive and we still lost three pets.

Tomorrow morning we take the Frankster to the neurologist. It's just a consultation I expect a return visit for testing. This sucks.

There is some sort of auditory trigger. A high pitched window fan will have him whirling like a dervish. I have a box next to my desk he sits in and the keyboard typing will trigger it. Pie's toenails and the tags on her collar will trigger it.

When I had my hip done Pie hunkered down next to me and has been in Protect mode. In the evenings she'll sit next to me and refuse to let the cats approach and chases them, to the point where it's been driving us nuts. We have two sections of 2' high fencing that can be unfolded that we used to keep her confined for the three surgeries she just went through. I used it to create barriers so the cats can walk from point A to B without being molested that seems to have helped.

It's not wishful thinking to hope this is behavioral. We even have video to show the neurologist.

I admit to being stressed out today. Poor Frank vomited in his box 5 minutes before we got to the vet. We got him cleaned up but it was unpleasant all around.

The neurologist is a tad snotty as many doctors can be but he's good, no question about it. His physical exam revealed a possible abnormality on one side of his brain. Long story short an MRI was the most direct path to a proper diagnosis and they offered one immediately. THAT surprised the hell out of us.

Fortunately the MRI did not reveal any abnormalities, they took several views to be certain. This is considered a mild seizure apparently epilepsy is the diagnosis when no physical cause is found. He'll be on phenobarbitol and the neurologist feels that will give a good result now that we know there are no other causes. I never thought I'd be glad for an epilepsy diagnosis.

I really thought we were gong to lose him, maybe even today. At one time in my life I despised cats but later learned to love them and this one is a really, really nice little feller. Phew.......................................

My female cat Nora gave me a scare the other day. Her fur was all sticky and she seemed to be lethargic. I know that isn't a good sign in cats so took her in to the vet. Vet found nothing wrong and the trip in the car woke her right up, he says she probably rolled in something and then tried to lick it off, which made her sick. They were kind enough to give her a bath, which I really appreciate!
