Hey guys! How you motivate yourself to engage physical activity? My kennel is already cleaned, but without rearranging furniture. But I still feel volitional disorders. I need to leave my house but I feel myself very nervous just to think of it. My depressive breath is coming back to me... Activity of the parts of my brain extinguish...
I love AE but realize I'm sitting here by myself. How do I motivate myself? Sometimes I'm not motivated at all but make myself get up and get out. Always makes me feel better.
I have a canine friend who needs to run and get exercise, I already walk about 10 miles a day just at work most days of the week and after work I do a bit more hiking and walking to get my dog out of the house...So for me its really not about motivation but more of a normal lifestyle... ...
Well I don't go to the gym or anything like that, hiking is something I've always liked, change of scenery, fresh air, especially if I go to the mountains, great atmosphere, I guess that's my motivation... ...
I didn't expect something more from person who have never experienced volitional violations which make you bedridden...
Well I've had things 'try' to take me from my bed but they failed, those incidents did not make me bedridden, in fact I would like to think that what I did to prevent being taken harmed them, there's no way of knowing that...However I do know that they did not try again after that... ...
Nope, my views have not changed, I don't know how that was your take away...Life is too short to worry over the small stuff, take every moment to enjoy it, I know I do...Maybe you need a dog, they do bring joy to someone's life... ...
Last Saturday: 6.1 miles on treadmill Last Sunday: One circuit of low weight high rep (30 to 100) Standing 105 lbs Smith Machine barbell shrugs at 3 sets of 10 + a set of 10 deadlifts Bench Press 105 lbs for 3 sets of 10 reps Bench press to find a tired max- could lift 150 lbs 6 times, 180 lbs once and could only hold the bar for 40 seconds at 205lbs (when fresh, the most I have done is about 235 lb bench press at 2 reps) Monday: 1 hour of yoga Thursday: 2 miles in 22 min 30 seconds. 1 set of 7 perfect slow pull-ups all the way down arms fully extended to all the way up, chin above bar and hold for two seconds. 1 set of 12 perfect slow dips 3 12 second Crows... ( balance on hands and pull legs close to body resting inner thighs on elbows.) 1 20 second wall assisted hand stand. 1 set of 12 burpees. Plan for today: 3 miles on treadmill in under 33 min.
Settled into a routine 6 to 7 mile jog one weekend, run 3.1 miles for time the other. Pull up and chin up variations Dips Handstands and crows. Pushups Full body circuit once per week as heavy as I can lift for one set of 6 to 12 reps. Medicine ball work and situps once per week Yoga session once per week Stretching every time I go to the gym. Juggling whenever I feel like it. I even started combining juggling with yoga... Jugoga? Haha. It keeps things interesting... Motivatation? It's all about enjoying the gym time. I tried a stricter schedule of weightsand exercises, like Thor and Captain America trained for movies... too grueling for me. Didnt enjoy it. Felt myself burning out... so went back to "playing" at the gym. Doing what feels right for the day. MUCH BETTER.
I like to do supersets ; 20 situps on inclined bench, 20 straight on a Roman chair, 20 oblique each side and the 20 dips. Together I call that one set and usually do three total to start the workout.
I actually had to run to work - lost track of time. Superset - get the heart rate up and keep it there for several minutes. I don't really time all this but go from one to the next without stopping. Really gets the blood pumping. I start with this and end with 15-30 minutes on a stationary bike. I actually pay attention to the RPMs and set the thing up high enough to get a workout. Some people just sort of sit on those things as if the bike is going to do it for them somehow. Importantly, my cell phone's in my locker.
Did yoga at lunch break, then this evening I jogged 2.5 km outside . It was a beautifully sunny warm day. The breeze went away at the end and then I walked for the last half K. Then I pulled weeds and raked the backyard for about an hour. It needed it. I came in when the solar garden lights came on. New normal with gym closed... and working from home.
This thread's been dead a while, probably killed by a virus. Been going to the gym regularly my whole adult life and that all hit the wall with a splat in March 2020. So now what? Walking is free and good for you. And your dog. I've been using a pedometer app since 2016 and check it for the daily total. Today I used the export function and took a look at the real #s. Wow ! They'll get the $1.99 tip they ask for. 2020-current daily average: 5.57 miles 2019-current daily MAX : 14.5 miles 2018-current daily MIN : 1.1 miles
