I think another misnomer is; "It's impossible to get a good picture with your iPhone because the camera isn't that great - too hard to focus, etc." Here's just two images of jets. First pic taken with an iPhone 4s (ancient camera by 2019's standards) and an iPhone 6s.

So approximately 230 million people have a camera handy in their pocket in North American alone that is capable of taking good quality photos of aerial objects, yet nobody can get a shot as clear as these two jets - but of a flying saucer.
