The oldest hotel in the world is The Nishiyama Onsen Keiunkan in Japan and has been in business since 705AD. The crazy thing is that it’s still a family business. For 52 generations.

That's not what's strange.
Its weirder that its apparently in a middle of nowhere and it still had visitors for more then 1,000 years.

The hot springs there have been regarded as healing. I guess once the word got out people desired to visit there. And since the area is isolated as you note, building a hotel there may have been judged a good business opportunity.

On July 28, 1945, a B-25 Mitchell bomber of the United States Army Air Forces crashed into the Empire State Building in New York City, while flying in thick fog. The accident caused the deaths of fourteen people (three crewmen and eleven people in the building) and damage estimated at US $1 million (equivalent to about $15 million in 2021), although the building's structural integrity was not compromised.

Long exposures of our Solar System's innermost planet may reveal something unexpected: a tail. Mercury's thin atmosphere contains small amounts of sodium that glow when excited by light from the Sun. Sunlight also liberates these molecules from Mercury's surface and pushes them away. The yellow glow from sodium, in particular, is relatively bright. First predicted in the 1980s, Mercury's tail was first discovered in 2001. Tails are usually associated with comets.
