And the moral of that story is . . .

uxW733QYou should pin this post.

I don't like meme graphics that purport to show statistical information, particularly when they vaguely reference a source ('FBI stats') without any attempt at detailed attribution, or where you can find an actually detailed analysis. I went to the FBI's Crime Data Explorer, and I could not easily find data that would corroborate these claims. Instead I found this:

The graphic does not explain how they managed to perform this sort of analysis from 'FBI stats'. It is also not clear what their claimed percentages are of. For example where it says "WHITES KILLED BY WHITES - 3%", do they mean that 3% of all white murder victims were murdered by another white (possibly, as they say that "whites killed by blacks" was 97%, which is the exact complement of 3%)?
However, the FBI data suggest that 23,253 whites were murdered, and 22,031 murders were committed by whites. So if only 3% of 23,253, or 698, in whole numbers, were killed by another white, then we can subtract that from the 22,031 where whites were perpetrators (22.031 - 698) to get 21,333 murders perpetrated by whites on presumably other races. Does that make any sense?
I don't doubt the overall point you are trying to make. However, the best way to make the point is with accurate information. Otherwise, your opponents can truthfully describe sources like the above graphic as misinformation.Agreed, but there's another way to look at it too. Come on over, I'll buy you a beer and we can take an evening walk in the Bronx near Mott Haven or maybe Washington Heights.
