Trump's NASA Budget Calls for a 'Jetsons' Vision of the Future

At the presentation of the president’s NASA budget for 2020 on Monday, NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine began his remarks by focusing on the aeronautics side of the agency. While space ventures might be what NASA is most famous for, the first A in NASA stands for aeronautics — the science of traveling through the air.

“I wanted to make sure that I started the speech today talking about [the aeronautics] part of the budget, because as a Navy pilot, I like the idea of everybody being able to fly supersonic and of course, everybody being able to fly in general, and eventually everybody being able to fly from one side of the city to the other side of the city,” Bridenstine announced before transitioning to the major focus of NASA’s proposed budget, the Moon.

Honestly I think we need to drop all plans of expanding aerodynamic methods of propulsion and invest all of our brain power and money into developing gravitational field propulsion technology.

That's the future. Rockets and airplanes are the past.
