Rights to Alien Technologies

As Above So Below
There was a great question asked recently, I'd like to ask that here...

If a private corporation developed technology to locate crashed alien craft, does anyone else have a right to this knowledge or to the technologies derived from it?

What do you think?...

I can't think of a precedent that would justify an affirmative answer.
What I actually think would happen is that the government (if it were a US company) would declare the technology to be classified.

The question is almost philosophical, Or even rhetorical, The reason I say this is, Things like "Rights" And "Morality" Concepts like the law. Those are all concepts designed to bring order and compliance within the populous.

So the answer is different depending on how you view it.

One view is, If someone develops something privately, That is their thing, To do with as they please, Seemingly both legally and financially it would be their intellectual property. However. Things like greed and power, Those things very often cross the lines of legality and morality. If a competing power, Wanted this technology badly enough, They would stop at nothing to acquire it, They would try to pursue it legally through Court and lawsuits based around sketchy ideas of human rights to "monopolize" technology that could benefit all humankind. And they would most likely keep throwing money at it until they acquired it.

In the past, Mankind has proven one thing. over and over again with each generation, If some governmental force or foreign power want's something badly enough, They will war and kill and take that thing for themselves and call it justice, And here is the catch to this, The winners of the war, Always get to define what Justice is, That's the true spoil of War, Getting to set the standard of right and wrong.

So, IN the end, They would acquire that technology and praise themselves as heroes. This is why it's rhetorical in some aspects. Because the sad truth is, Things like morality and legality won't prevent people from taking what they want. Greed is a powerful drug.

It would probably be like the law of salvage.
Law of salvage - Wikipedia
The law of salvage is a principle of maritime law whereby any person who helps recover another person's ship or cargo in peril at sea is entitled to a reward commensurate with the value of the property salved.

Maritime law is inherently international, and although salvage laws vary from one country to another, generally there are established conditions to be met to allow a claim of salvage.[1] The vessel must be in peril, either immediate or forthcoming; the "salvor" must be acting voluntarily and under no pre-existing contract; and the salvor must be successful in his efforts, though payment for partial success may be granted if the environment is protected.
