Ring discovered around 'potato-shaped' dwarf planet Haumea

A ring system has been found around a dwarf planet for the first time — the distant, potato-shaped Haumea, which lies beyond Neptune. A 'potato-shaped' dwarf planet, out beyond Neptune, has a ring around it

It says the ring spins 3 times slower than the planet. I wonder if the ring and the planet spin on the same Axis, they would have to I guess or the gravity of the planet would play merry hell with the ring. Cool finding.

Maybe it's an abandoned space station or was heavily mined. Its spin rate could have been designed to create an artificial gravity in the interior.
