This is a topical point and one that needs further investigating . Maybe they could apply this technology here on Earth to feed the starving.

The Martian used it as fertilizer for his potatoes... so Astro poo could be repurposed for fertilizing plants...

But pancakes from poo powder would probably be okay if the necroposic odor and taste was neutralized, but it seems like an impractical Psychology for the astronauts even if they got it to work.

I buy the organic fertilizer idea. The upscale groceries charge a premium for food that has been sh*t on.

But direct conversion is one bridge too far.

In zero gravity they would need to peletize it so poo dust doesn't clog the air filters and make astonauts breath weightless floaty poo powder into their lungs.

I think it will end up looking like a rice cake, it could be ground like flour and puffed and shaped ike rice cakes, they are easy to manage, carry, and store...You can spread your favourite jams or butters, or maybe it will be something like tofu, something that can be sliced and fried...
