Several interesting personal UFO sighting experiences shared by Chinese netizens.

On the night of July 4, 2012, at around 11 PM, the witness, along with her husband and a friend, had a close encounter with a UFO while driving through the Wumagang section of Sihui Avenue in Zhaoqing City. They were driving overnight from Guangzhou to Sihui for some business. The witness's friend was driving, she herself was sitting in the front passenger seat, and her husband was dozing off in the back seat. Below is the witness's account:

After exiting the highway, our car was traveling at about 80 kilometers per hour on Sihui Avenue. The air quality was very good that night, so visibility was high, the moon was bright, and there were many stars, so I kept looking at the sky. As we drove on, suddenly I noticed a very strong light (two rows of lights, three on top and three on the bottom) coming through the roadside trees at the 1 o'clock direction ahead of the car. At that time, there were obstacles (trees, highway bridges) blocking the view, so I didn't pay much attention to it, thinking it was just searchlights or streetlights on the hillside by the road. As the car continued forward, the obstacles gradually passed, and I suddenly realized that there was no hillside around, only some villages, but those lights were still hanging high in the sky. At that time, I wasn't sure what it was, but I felt that the light was very strange, so I kept staring at it. After a few seconds, as the car got closer, I noticed that it was six lights arranged in a "V" shape, with three red lights on the left and three green lights on the right (the green looked very old-fashioned, more so than the green of traffic lights). As we got closer, I could see that it was a glowing object. I asked my friend who was driving, "What is that?" He glanced at it casually while driving. The object was about a few hundred meters away from the car, just hovering in the air by the roadside. My friend glanced at it and said, "A plane?" I didn't respond and kept watching. Just as we were about to pass by the object, I finally saw its oval shape clearly under the moonlight, and I suddenly shouted, "No, it's round!" Then my friend leaned closer to the steering wheel and looked up again, and he also saw the shape. He quickly slowed down and pulled over to the side of the road, reminding me, "Quick, take out your phone and record it!" At this point, my husband in the back seat woke up. I took out my phone, but my hands were shaking so much that it took me nearly ten seconds to get the video recording started. I felt both excited and scared, an indescribable feeling.

By then, our car had already passed under the object, about two hundred meters away from it. It was still hovering there. As soon as we stopped, its six lights went out, leaving only a small light in the middle flashing rhythmically. My friend and my husband got out of the car to look, while I rolled down the window and pointed my phone at it, but I didn't dare to get out of the car. I kept repeating, "It's round! It's round!" My hands were shaking so badly, and the iPhone 4s I was using at the time didn't have a zoom function for video recording. At night, I could only capture the small flashing light. (It was about thirty stories high from the ground, with an oval shape. I could clearly see the metallic texture of its shell, a dull silver-gray color, just like the classic UFO shape we often see in photos, but it was really huge!)

About half a minute later, it began to move slowly in the opposite direction from us, but even at such a close distance, it made no sound at all while flying! I kept recording, even though I only captured a small red dot. I was so nervous and scared because it was completely unexpected, and fear was the most natural reaction at the time. I felt like my legs had gone weak. I never got out of the car the entire time... Later, it flew slowly for a distance, then suddenly "whooshed" to the sky on the other side of the road, and with another "whoosh," it disappeared.

That was the whole experience. I never thought I would have the chance to witness a UFO up close in my lifetime, I never even imagined it, but it just happened... The strongest feelings were fear, nervousness, and the fear of the unknown.

Strangely, the witness claimed that when they attempted to pull over to observe the UFO more closely, it turned off the six lights on its underside, as if it had noticed the witnesses' scrutiny. Even more peculiar was that the people in other vehicles on the road seemed oblivious to its presence (the witness stated that the six lights on the UFO were actually quite conspicuous). It appeared that only the witness and the others in her car had seen it.

Another case, as described by the witness:
"One night in 1997 (sorry, it was a long time ago) in a small city in northern China, a few of us kids were playing next to a breakfast stall with an iron shed. Suddenly, one of them shouted, 'What's that? Come and look!' I looked up to where he was pointing in the sky, between two buildings, and saw a massive, breathtakingly beautiful silver oval craft gliding slowly across the sky. Even as children, we knew it couldn't be man-made because it was too big and too beautiful—a kind of beauty that could only be created by intelligent beings. Since it closely resembled the UFOs depicted in a Korean science book I owned, I immediately concluded it was a UFO.

The base color of its body was a silvery halo (leaning towards blue-green), with a luster completely unlike the reflective sheen of human-made aircraft. It seemed as if there was immense energy inside, but the exterior emitted a dazzling red or yellow light. It wasn't very high, perhaps just a few kilometers up, but because of its enormous size, the three rows (at least more than one, sorry, it was so long ago) of windows were clearly visible. Each window was white inside, with one window shining ten times brighter than the others. I didn't know why that window was so bright, but the combination of regularity and irregularity made it clear to everyone that this was the work of intelligent beings. The arrangement of the windows was incredibly orderly, showcasing a futuristic industrial aesthetic. Despite its massive size, it made no sound. Its speed was slower than today's passenger planes, and it seemed to glide effortlessly, ignoring air friction, as if it were a projection from another world. The sky between the two buildings wasn't very wide, so I only witnessed it for about ten seconds before I snapped out of it and rushed home to get my camera (I lived in a ground-floor unit diagonally across from where I was standing). At home, I babbled incoherently about what I had seen, but the adults didn't believe me. By the time I went back outside, the UFO had already disappeared from view. Disappointed but unwilling to give up, I stood under the sky, waiting. Not long after, I saw seven or eight smaller crafts flying overhead, heading in the direction of the massive UFO, with red and green lights flashing (I thought they might be smaller UFOs). I ran home screaming to my parents that a swarm of small UFOs had appeared. My parents laughed when they heard about the red and green lights and told me, 'You saw airplanes, silly child.' Of course, I couldn't believe that the massive craft I had seen earlier was an airplane. The next day at school, my desk mate told me that the night before, their curtains had lit up brightly, scaring them. Some adults in the neighborhood also mentioned it, and only then did my parents start to believe a little.

Time is a strange thing. Many memories have faded, but this experience, in a way, reshaped my attitude towards the world. Over the years, I've often wondered: What did those pilots see that night? Why were they heading towards the UFO? When the UFO eventually disappeared with unbelievable acceleration or simply vanished, did they, like me, marvel at the insignificance of humanity and the grandeur of the universe?"

I live in Zigong, Sichuan, an inconspicuous small city in southern Sichuan. On a sunny afternoon in April 2005, the sky was a clear, cloudless blue. Auntie Dai (my nanny) was picking me up from preschool to take me home. Our neighborhood was located on a small hill called Zhongyun Hill, which wasn’t even as tall as a seven-story residential building. The neighborhood had a large open area with a very wide view, offering a panoramic view of the entire city. At around 3:30 PM, as we turned the corner of the first building, I suddenly noticed two black unidentified objects in the eastern sky, one large and one small.

To say they were ellipsoidal isn’t entirely accurate, because I remember their upper and lower curves weren’t quite symmetrical. Each ellipsoid seemed to have something like a wire hanging from it, with a small silver sphere at the end, resembling the two braids I had tied that day. The sunlight was glaring, but these strange objects didn’t reflect any light. They just hung there silently, one large and one small. The wind rustled the leaves, creating a soft, swishing sound, but the objects remained completely motionless and silent, as if they didn’t belong to our world.

A sudden wave of fear washed over me. I clutched Auntie Dai’s clothes tightly, on the verge of tears, and said, “Auntie, look, what is that…?” I’m certain Auntie Dai saw them too, but she just glanced at them calmly, said “Oh,” and then… started folding laundry?? I remembered reading about UFO investigations in a children’s science magazine at kindergarten. Though these didn’t look exactly the same, and there were two of them, my mind exploded with the thought: Could these be UFOs? I was frantic. I said, “Auntie, do you have a camera? Look! UFOs, hurry…” But Auntie Dai seemed to ignore me, continuing to fold the dry clothes and bedsheets. Whether out of frustration, anxiety, excitement, or fear of the unknown, I started crying uncontrollably, my legs trembling as I quickly ran into the building. For some reason, I was terrified and didn’t want to see them disappear. I cried so hard I could barely catch my breath, and I might have even wet my pants… My memory of what happened next is hazy. I only remember my grandma comforting me, and me rushing to the balcony with a camera from my dad’s bookshelf, only to find nothing there. Auntie Dai kept explaining to my grandma that they were just two kites…

The describer in another case said: In 1999, the year of the century's transition, I witnessed a UFO with my own eyes in Lulong County, Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province. It was truly disc - shaped. It was around six or seven o'clock in the evening during the period from late autumn to early winter. After my mother finished feeding the pigs in the evening and entered the house, she mumbled, "What's that flying in the sky?" So I ran outside. In the southeast direction, a UFO flew slowly towards me, getting closer and closer (from two or three hundred meters to just tens of meters). It was about one or two meters in size. The UFO had colorful lights shining. At first, a person on the UFO was looking down at the ground. Then another person came out, and the two of them were pointing at the ground.

I could clearly tell that one of the people on the UFO was an Earthling, looking like an Asian, or more specifically, a Chinese. He was wearing a military uniform and seemed to hold a high military rank. He wasn't wearing a spacesuit. The other one was wearing a spacesuit, and his height and limb proportions were not much different from those of the Earthling. At the end, another person came out. He talked with the first two for a while, then they all entered the UFO together. After that, the viewing platform closed, and the UFO took off, taking the obvious Earthling with it. I was filled with fear at that time. At first, I was standing, but then I squatted on the ground, fearing that the people on the UFO would find me and harm me. For a while, I was so scared that I ran into the house. However, I was too curious, so I came out again. Later, five or six very small spherical objects flew out of the UFO and flew in all directions. I was extremely frightened. After about twenty minutes, the small objects flew back into the large UFO, and the hatch cover above the UFO closed. When there were two aliens, at least half of the hatch cover was open. Then the large UFO flew towards the northeast space at an extremely fast speed and disappeared in an instant. The next day when I rode my bike to Mujing Township for school, several old people were still whispering there about what that thing was last night. The UFO I saw was similar to the one in this picture (of course, I know this picture is fake. I'm just saying that the appearance of the unidentified flying object I saw was close to that in this picture. In my memory, there were more small balls flying out of the UFO than in this picture, about five or six).

The witness's uncle accidentally took a photo of a UFO: It was around 2007 when I was in the second grade of junior high school. One day, my mother took me to my uncle's house to play. (My uncle likes traveling. When I was a child, he took me to Shandong and Inner Mongolia. In the past, we used a film camera for traveling. Every time, we had to buy those yellow Kodak films to take pictures. Later, he changed to a digital camera and would save the pictures on the computer after each trip.) That day, I was watching TV when I arrived. He told me he wanted to show me something. He led me to the computer, opened the pictures. It was a place in a Tibetan autonomous region in Sichuan that he had recently visited. I forgot the name, but I only remembered the scenery was beautiful. My uncle was standing on an open ground with many colorful flags around. The background was continuous and towering mountains. In the blue sky, I found what he wanted me to see. In the upper right corner of the photo, there was a UFO, showing a deep copper color with a metallic texture. Exactly speaking, from the angle of the photo, it was in a cigar shape, but its real shape should be disc - shaped. I kept zooming in on the picture viewer. When it was pixelated, I saw a transparent sphere on the top of the UFO (something like a cockpit). I could see it because of the reflection on the outer edge. To be honest, it was a bit unbelievable because it was so much like the traditional concept of a UFO, as if it jumped out of a children's simple drawing. It wasn't glowing, only reflecting the sunlight from its metal material. I used C4D to restore the UFO I saw at that time for your reference. Although I saw the UFO in a picture, I was still incredibly surprised. I've always dreamed of seeing it with my own eyes because I want to understand the extraterrestrial civilization's perception and views on beauty, their unique aesthetic concepts and design ideas. If possible, I'd like to talk with the designers in their world and learn from them. Hahaha. The witness said: In the 1990s, in a rural area of Sichuan, I was only eleven or twelve years old. During the summer vacation, I went to the mountains to graze cows and was lying on the lawn, sound asleep. Suddenly, I felt a very bright light nearby, which flashed several times. Subconsciously, I jumped up and looked around. About one hundred meters away from me, on a small hillside, there was a small flat area where a disc was parked (it was suspended about two meters above the ground. I didn't see any supports). It looked extremely smooth, yet not very reflective, giving a sense of solidity. There were some "dots" on the disc that flashed from time to time, which I still remember vividly. Later, I realized that this should be a UFO. At that time, I was just very confused. I was young and inexperienced, so I just stood there watching. After standing for less than two minutes, two "beings" came out from the disc. A "door" opened at the bottom of the disc, and they came down directly. I saw them quite clearly. After those two "beings" came down, they took something and swept it around, which was a bit like taking pictures or recording. Then one of them saw me and pointed at me. At this point, I couldn't hold it anymore and took off running, leaving the cow there. I remember that those two "beings" were wearing the same kind of clothes, if you could call it that. The color was the same as the disc, silver - white, looking smooth but not reflective. Their whole bodies were wrapped in this kind of clothing, and there was something like glasses in the eye area. That's all I can remember. After I ran back, my grandfather asked me where the cow was. I said I left it on the mountain and that I had seen a ghost. My grandfather could tell I wasn't lying because I was shaking and my legs were weak after I got back. Later, he called a few people and they went up the mountain to bring the cow back. He also got me a Buddha pendant necklace to wear around my neck. I still remember that for a while after that, helicopters often came and flew around in our area. This was in a rural area of Sichuan in the late 1990s. I had never even seen a helicopter before. As I grew up, I often recalled this experience and became more and more convinced that what I encountered at that time was very likely aliens.

I learned about this for the first time. It does bear some resemblance to the case I shared.

This is another famous picture that has been debated over since the day it was taken in 1950 on the Trent family farm in Oregon. The McMinnville UFO Photograph. Salt of the Earth types, no discernable motive, film camera and yet this wasn't accidental.

I believe there are two that look about the same. I guess the man saw this thin and ran in and grabbed his camera. IIRC they didn't get the film developed immediately, this was in there with family holiday photos.

@Todd Feinman here at AE is local to that area and knows quite a bit about the case plus he had his own very close range encounter you'd be interested in. He'll tune in eventually I assume, he might be taking a break.

Narrator: My mother was born in 1965. She was in elementary school around 1972. She said that when she was in the third grade, on her way home from school at noon, she saw five people dressed very strangely, in colorful outfits. At first, she didn’t think much of it, but upon closer look, she was deeply impressed. These five people were at least 2 meters tall, possibly even taller, with very long arms and legs. My mother didn’t describe exactly how long, but it was clear they didn’t look like normal people. Each of them was wearing a fully enclosed helmet, but she said that even when motorcycles became popular later, she never saw helmets like those—they were more like full head coverings. Motorcycles didn’t become common in our area until ten or twenty years later.

What’s more crucial is that she said these five people walked out of something. At the time, her only frame of reference was iron, but later she said it must have been some kind of metallic object, with a very shiny, polished surface. Back then, she was timid, and even though it was broad daylight in a rural area, she was the only one on the road. She didn’t dare to look too long and quickly ran home.

Many years have passed, and looking back at her story from today’s perspective, there are a few puzzling points. First, how could such polished metal materials exist in a rural area at that time? Second, even if the clothing and head coverings were trendy in cities back then, it’s unlikely they would appear in a rural area. As for movies, I haven’t been able to find any film references that match her description.

One time after school, a few of us followed some older students and, being playful, took a detour outside the village. We saw several glowing figures, not very tall—I felt they were about my height, so now I’d estimate around 1.3 meters. They were wearing silver metallic suits and large helmets with very bright lights on top... We didn’t dare get close. They then boarded a round object parked by the roadside, and within seconds, it took off and disappeared.

Later, as I grew up, I asked the classmates who were with me that day, and they also remembered it, though none of us knew what it was. For now, we’ll just consider them aliens.

Then, they seemed to notice my gaze and looked into our house. I was instantly terrified! Their eyes were unusually large, like those in cartoons, and their mouths were very small. They were extremely thin and short, about the height of a child. Both looked exactly the same, expressionless, and their entire bodies were gray. The one behind stared at me and then leaned their head forward, close to the back of the one in front, as if whispering something.

After a few seconds of eye contact, I snapped out of it and immediately crawled toward my grandmother, who was cooking right beside me. I hugged her leg, crying and shouting, “There are ghosts at the door! The ghosts are here!” But my grandmother, busy cooking, didn’t even turn around. She thought I was just being mischievous and scolded me. If she had just looked toward the door, she would have definitely seen them, as we were no more than five meters away from those “ghosts.” However, reality is often so dramatic. When I finally gathered the courage to look outside again, the two “ghosts” were gone. (At that time, all the children my age in the village had moved to the town, and I was the only child left in the village, so it couldn’t have been a prank by peers.)

Later, when I saw depictions of so-called aliens on TV shows, I realized they looked exactly like the “ghosts” I saw that day. It made me feel both scared and excited.

Witness description: Yes, it was a clear night, around 9 PM. The adults were all at home watching TV or playing cards. At the time, I was in middle school, and my family lived in the suburbs where there weren’t many residents. I was playing in the yard with two neighbors when we saw a disc, several times larger than the full moon, emitting an orange-red light, silently hovering right above us. In fact, none of us knew how long it had been there. I happened to look up and noticed it, then called their attention to it. It was just silently suspended there, completely motionless. We could clearly see that it was shaped like a disc, seemingly made of large metal plates joined together, glowing with a soft, non-dazzling orange-red light.

We watched it quietly for about seven or eight seconds. Then, just like many other eyewitness accounts describe, without any warning or sound, the large disc suddenly vanished into the night sky. Where did it go? I personally believe it might have come from another planet. After hearing this account, would you agree that it doesn’t belong to Earth? Even now, I can’t say exactly how fast that UFO flew away. The fastest speed I’ve heard of is the speed of light, but how fast is that? I’m not sure. As for the speed at which the UFO disappeared, I can only describe it as vanishing in the blink of an eye. Whether it was close to or reached the speed of light, I really can’t tell.

The unidentified flying object appeared to be pieced together, but in reality, it might not have been. Its underside had irregular geometric patterns that made it look like it was made of separate pieces, giving the impression of being assembled. It emitted its own light, glowing with a soft orange-red hue, similar to the light from old-fashioned light bulbs. However, its main body seemed to be gray. Our home back then was quite remote, surrounded by hills, with few residents. Nights were quiet, and we were about five or six kilometers from the bustling part of the city. Now, the area has become much more developed.The UFO I witnessed looked something like this. I’m not skilled at drawing, so I can only provide a rough layout of its underside. There were three of us who witnessed it together, and it’s impossible for all three of us to have had the same hallucination at the same time.

A Chinese netizen shared: In March 2024, while I was on a flight, I was gazing out the window at the sky when suddenly I spotted a cigar-shaped UFO, or what appeared to be one. To the naked eye, it had a metallic, silver-gray texture and seemed to be hovering in place. As the plane was about to pass by it, I quickly took a photo with my phone, but unfortunately, it wasn't very clear.

A Chinese netizen said: I originally intended to photograph the fiery clouds, so I hurried up to the rooftop to take some shots. When I came back and started editing the photos, I couldn't help but wonder if my eyes were playing tricks on me...

Let me explain the situation in detail. I live in Zhuhai, Guangdong. Over the past couple of days, I heard that a typhoon was making landfall, and on the eve of its arrival, there were exceptionally beautiful fiery clouds. Seeing that sunset was approaching, I went up to the rooftop to capture some images. However, by the time I got up there, it was already quite late, and I missed the sunset glow. I just casually took a photo of the clouds and headed back downstairs, facing the direction of Wugui Mountain. Later, when I brightened the photo on my computer, I noticed something rather peculiar in the lower right corner. Upon zooming in for a closer look, I initially didn't think much of it and didn't jump to any conclusions, assuming it was just a cloud. But after noticing the reflection on what appeared to be a disc, I started to think that I might have actually captured a UFO, and so I posted it online. The date was September 5, 2024

The witness said that thirty years ago today, on August 27, 1987, between 7:00 PM and 8:00 PM, a famous UFO sighting occurred in Shanghai, and I was one of the eyewitnesses.
At that time, I was living at the intersection of Sinan Road and Huaihai Road. The seven-story building is still there today. I lived on the top floor, and every evening during the summer vacation, I would play chess with my next-door neighbor after dinner, and that night was no exception.
The weather was particularly good that night, with no clouds in the sky. My neighbor and I were playing chess by the light from the room when I suddenly noticed the chessboard was slightly illuminated by something. It wasn't exaggerated, but I clearly felt a change in brightness. Instinctively, I looked up at the sky and saw it. It was flying at a 45-degree angle above my head, about the size of a thumb segment, moving very slowly from west to east. Unfortunately, there was a water tank on the rooftop, and after about five seconds, it disappeared behind the tank and was no longer visible. But strangely, I felt as though I had been staring at it for several minutes. It was a beautiful oval shape, emitting a silvery-white light. The most fascinating part was that at one end of the disk, there was something resembling a comet's tail, made of stardust-like particles, slowly rotating around the disk. It didn't complete a full rotation before it disappeared. It didn't look like anything emitted from a jet engine; the stardust-like tail was firmly surrounding the disk, without any signs of dispersion or diffusion. These are all the details I can remember.
