Star Trek: Picard

old shows like All in the Family, The Jeffersons, Maude, Soap etc. At the time they were considered progressive and (like old UFO cases) when you cherry pick them out of context you tend to grimace a bit. You can't judge the past through a modern lens because much of the subtlety we appreciated then is missing.
The Jeffersons is a great show, quality stuff and you rarely find quality shows these days...

Agreed. This hypersensitized generation of weirdos would ban all those shows in a flash if it came on the radar. Couldn't make Blazing Saddles again without having to call in the National Guard to quell riots.

Get on episode 9. You’ll like it

I'll be watching it tonight, almost forgot about this since I've been focused on my new job lol...

That was when we first saw the Borg. I'll show her a few others, All Good Things for context, maybe Voyager where they first encountered 7 of 9. Generations and First Contact. Hence, can't use 'E' . She's into it. My guess is big cliffhanger and Picard Season 4. Hope so.

so what did you think?

WOW, this 9th episode is full of surprises...

Initially I was shocked by the huge Borg reveal, I want to watch it again, will do that tomorrow...I don't quite understand how the Changlings and the Borg are working together...We've seen the Borg work with Captain Janeway and Voyager but that was due to an existential threat to the Borg...They were on the verge of being wiped out by Species 8472 and the Borg worked with Janeway reluctantly...So why are the Changlings their new allies?...Did not see any Borg drones on the Borg cube which was kind of odd, not one drone...

This episode is without a doubt outstanding, love seeing the Next Generation crew back in the Enterprise...The takeover of Star Fleet ships was disconcerting, I don't see how this is going to end well for Earth and the Federation...There's only one more episode to go in this season (I think) and no more, no season 4, this is it, and there's a lot to button up in the next episode...

This has turned from a Changling story to a Borg story, we didn't see any Changlings in episode 9, why?...They infiltrated Star Fleet and were on every ship, so where did they go?...I have to assume they bailed out knowing what their new allies were doing, off screen movements I suppose...Would have loved to get a frontal view of the Borg Queen, she looked absolutely horrifying from behind, she definitely has evolved or improved herself and Borg technology seems to have advanced considerably...

Too bad Captain Shaw got killed off, I liked him...I also noticed they kicked Raffi and Seven of Nine off to the curb when the team went to get the Enterprise...They didn't want none of the non-TNG people to spoil the Enterprise moments of nostalgia lol...

There is so much to unpack in regards to this episode, can't wait for the next one...

Don't forget the episode of Enterprise when Captain Archer and crew encountered the future Borg, which took place after the events of the movie First Contact...

I'm not 100% clear on all this. At risk of spoilers, there are other ST characters that must be feeling left out. I smell a cliff hanger, we just watched Best of Both Worlds. Mr.Worf ..... fire..... and we waited how long for that?

I never thought I'd get this excited over ST again. It's fantastic to introduce Mrs.PF to it who is now hooked !

Did you read the spoilers I posted?...The first one is my driving force in rewatching, feel like I missed some dialog maybe...

There are some plot points about changelings, how they fought, etc. But to tie all that together…..

You might say they have my gratitude… and yes that’s a wayback reference

I did and without spoilers, nonhuman collectives want to off the Federation. From their p.o.v they’re entitled to be pissed

Yes indeed, that's never ending it seems, even with Voyager half way across the galaxy where no one has heard of the Federation, they still ran into non-human entities that hated them, go figure...
