When the big alien looking changlings are fighting, why aren't they changing shapes to gain the upper hand?...They fight like the solids fight instead of fighting like the species they are, shape-shifters...
My sarcasm can be obscure I admit but that's my point. What good are those silly phasers in the first place except for vaporizing things from less than two feet away? You put those in the cleaning closet not the armory. In the good old days you could hold off innumerable swarms of Yangs with just one or two. I think the alien samuri were just minions and she was the only shape shifter but the turbolift scene needs a second look. Confusing to say the least.
And as minions go did you notice anything familiar about all that ? Pure
John Wick. Faceless generic bad guys it's OK to kill. You wouldn't want to see one scream in pain or have a facial expression, they have to be dehumanized - odd term for nonhumans but you get the drift. Roddenberry didn't like the 'militarization' of
Star Trek way back when, I imagine he's spinning in his grave. The franchise would have died long ago though if he totally had his way but that's one reason I like
Strange New Worlds. The Great Bird of the Galaxy probably would too.
I'm just happy to see the band back together again, just don't over do it. Two episodes left I think. I have a hard time watching Will Wheaton but he does a decent interview - I watched the one with Brent Spiner last night.
