It has been a weird week indeed ........

I hope that if this season is good maybe we'll get another. But now that they have it going in the right direction please don't *** it up again !

Bravo!

Episode 7 is most excellent, this is like watching a movie! A big reveal in this one too!...Loving how this whole season has been tied to and wolven into the past series, so good to see Star Trek shine again...Can't wait for E8...

I was so captivated by this latest episode that I dreamed about it last night lol...

More to the point,
I dreamed about the reveal on how the changlings were modified as told by this latest episode...

Saw it last night. Good stuff !!

Pity René Auberjonois isn't with us anymore, right? Since they're getting the whole band back together I'd love to see The Constable again.

I wonder if Benjamin Sisco will make his return from the Bajorin Prophets...If he were to come in with the Prophets (wormhole aliens) to help the Federation I think that would be spectacular...

Maybe they forgot to plug their hoverbeds in the night before........

non sequitur - why use a powered device that isn't necessary? My neighbor has a small fortune in cordless yard tools and I imagine the Great Atlantic Conveyor will be fixed right up jiffy quick because of it. But, the old guy Al next door used a reel mower, shears and rakes on the same exact property for decades.

BTW - I didn't know that was Christopher Plummer's daughter. Cry Havoc !!

Watching the excellent episode 7. Again. OK, stupid and no doubt rendered ineffective by the writers…,but can’t someone please pull a .45 out from under their tunic and blow a few holes in bad guy? If a fake tommy gun kills Borg with the same cartridge a real one should be unpleasant. Or, if you want to up the old projectile game I might suggest a .45 Win Mag or 10mm.

I have episode 8 now, going to watch it later tonight...

Just saw it. Damn!

BTW - I was right. If swords work a frigggin’ m1911A1 .45 would be saving a lot of trouble. Classic problem solver. You want to go old school I’d choose a m1917 U.S.Navy cutless. I’d lop my fingers off with that weird Klingon ****

This episode did not captivate me as the previous ones...For me it moved the story along a tad bit, but really didn't go anywhere...

My first complaint of something I've noticed in this episode 8 as well as in episode 7 and maybe 6...When the big alien looking changlings are fighting, why aren't they changing shapes to gain the upper hand?...They fight like the solids fight instead of fighting like the species they are, shape-shifters...

My sarcasm can be obscure I admit but that's my point. What good are those silly phasers in the first place except for vaporizing things from less than two feet away? You put those in the cleaning closet not the armory. In the good old days you could hold off innumerable swarms of Yangs with just one or two. I think the alien samuri were just minions and she was the only shape shifter but the turbolift scene needs a second look. Confusing to say the least.

And as minions go did you notice anything familiar about all that ? Pure John Wick. Faceless generic bad guys it's OK to kill. You wouldn't want to see one scream in pain or have a facial expression, they have to be dehumanized - odd term for nonhumans but you get the drift. Roddenberry didn't like the 'militarization' of Star Trek way back when, I imagine he's spinning in his grave. The franchise would have died long ago though if he totally had his way but that's one reason I like Strange New Worlds. The Great Bird of the Galaxy probably would too.

I'm just happy to see the band back together again, just don't over do it. Two episodes left I think. I have a hard time watching Will Wheaton but he does a decent interview - I watched the one with Brent Spiner last night.

Two episodes left I think.

Yes that brings up one other thing, with three episodes left episode 8 I think should have been balls to the wall, earlier episodes were...There was a sense of urgency that wasn't present in episode 8...

Love seeing TNG crew together, great stuff and long overdue...Two episodes left, I hope the writers don't disappoint...

they still have that big problem to take care of and I am a little curious about what Jack and Deanna find

My wife has been watching this too. She's not quite so devout but knows what's she's looking at for the most part. We were just talking about this last episode and realized that our entertainment is a reflection of where we are in general, as a society. We were also talking about old shows like All in the Family, The Jeffersons, Maude, Soap etc. At the time they were considered progressive and (like old UFO cases) when you cherry pick them out of context you tend to grimace a bit. You can't judge the past through a modern lens because much of the subtlety we appreciated then is missing.

Apprehension about technology and being inclusive - in a non toxic way - is what TOS was about.

What in God's name does this last season of Picard have to say? Nothing good, except that the Old Generation had to come back to keep the franchise out of the dirt before they are.

the Old Generation had to come back to keep the franchise out of the dirt before they are.

Yeah that's an inconvenient truth the snowflake generation fails to see...
