It looks like a baby Loch Ness.
Mysterious sea creature washes ashore in St. Simons Island
ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. - A mysterious sea creature washed ashore in St. Simons Island and it has beachgoers scratching their heads.
Jeff Warren and his son were at Wolf Island National Wildlife Refuge just north of St. Simons Island in Georgia Friday when they came upon the creature on a barrier island.
Warren thought it was a dead seal, but said when he got a closer look it resembled more of the Loch Ness monster.
Warren sent the photo to News4Jax and said the creature was about 4 to 5 feet long with two fins, though only one can be seen in the picture.
The creature has little teeth about one-eighth of an inch long.
Is this creature a sea monster or just an oddly-shaped fish? For now, it remains a mystery.
COULD THE MYSTERY BE SOLVED?
A local writer and novelist contacted News4Jax saying he believes the mysterious sea creature looks exactly like the legendary Altamaha-ha, a river monster of the Altamaha River located just west of Wolf Island. Taylor Brown, author of "The River of Kings," says he grew up on St. Simons Island and heard stories about the sea creature, known as a survivor of the Mesozoic Era.

Not heard of this one before ?

Champ (folklore) In American folklore, Champ or Champy is the name given to a lake monster living in Lake Champlain, a 125-mile (201 km)-long body of fresh water shared by New York and Vermont, with a portion extending into Quebec, Canada.

That's the picture that looks like a tree stump. Its a nice place for camping. There is something odd in the lake.....but again there are far to many ifs for it to be a plesiosaur.

Yup. Ol' Champ is my states monster. Our minor league baseball team is also called "The Lake Monsters" and the mascot is Champ. I live about 10 miles from Lake Champlain and I practically live on the Lake during fishing season, and I lived right off the lake in Grand Isle with my parents when i was young. I've seen something odd in the Lake on occasion.

Ol' Champ is protected by both Vermont and New York. So you can't go and try to fish him out.

Amazing. Protected by 2 States and no one knows what it is ?

I commend them......far better than those like our supposed president who doesn't care about the environment. If he doesn't care about it then his son deserves what his father is making.

Based on the eco-location I'd say its a fresh water cetacean.......they found a fossil of a whale that was 11,000 years old along the lake shore.

The whale bones were actually found in South Burlington. If you drive on the highway to Williston there are two whale tails to commemorate the find. I drive by them everyday. Vermont decorates them during the holidays too. Pretty cool.

There is an update but they still don't know what it is.

Current favorite theory seems to be a baby basking shark without it's head.

Doesn't seem to be a good explanation yet.

As Above So Below
Were any tests performed to find out what it is?...

The entire field and circumstances between the two are entirely different Castle so why try to compare the two?
A DNA sample seems to me to be a logical move.

I agree that DNA is the way to go......but if people want to prove its an unknown species you'll never see it like we never see the DNA reports claiming them to be ETs. Like I said its the same principal.

Yes I am aware that ETs and sea monsters are different......though some people would say different.
