The Child Murders at Robin Hood Hills.

Hi guys, ... firstly, I made this thread because I was originally going to post it in Nivek's Falconio thread as a kind of ongoing subject matter that would be associated case , as with Rick's 'Stephen Avery' case ... but on reflection decided that such great serious topic matters as these obviously are, deserve a thread of their own and not to be digressive enough to weaken the footprint of the original event! ... and so .... yesterday i found myself with a much gratefully-received bunch of free time [practically the whole day to myself to do just whatever i want .. but unfortunately i wasn't quite feeling 100% for some reason and decided to just slob in front of the TV.] and so i wasted this precious battery-recharge-time watching this marathon three edition documentary about an event that some of you [specially my American friends] will no doubt be already familiar with. ... It was called "Paradise Lost: The Child Murders at Robin Hood Hills" parts 1,2 and 3. .. and then went online to catch up on developments that might have occurred since the making of the last documentary that i watched, and found that it doesn't get any clearer!!
If you are not familiar with the documentaries or their subject matter it concerns the very macabre, shocking and damn-well disgusting murder and mutilation of three eight year old boys which happened in May 1993 and the heartbreaking mutilated bodies of the boys were found in a ditch in a wooded area of West Memphis, Arkansas, known as "Robin Hood Hills". [as the title would suggest] ... and the probable injustice suffered by three young men aged 16,17 and 18 Misskelley, Echols and Baldwin that were arrested , charged and convicted of the heinous crimes with Misskelley and Baldwin being sentenced to life imprisonment and Echols being given the death sentence, ... all on the flimsiest if any evidence at all!
... in short , The accused boys spent the next 18 and half years in prison, before finally being able to taste free air when they were brow-beaten and worn down enough to accept the bizarre condition of submitting this weird thing [ only-in-America] called 'The Alford Plea' .. in which the defendant has to actually plead guilty and then be released?? [no i'm not kidding]

... Anyway, if you haven't followed the case throughout the years that it was apparently making headlines in the U.S then you will either have to read about or watch various documentaries on the subject to see just how extraordinary a case this really is! ... It has it all, ... the absolute depravity of the human psyche in the perpetration of this unspeakable evil, the presence of the detestable false-witnesses, the utter desperation of incompetent police and judicial officers. the various assortment of 'counter-suspects', the complete lack of definitive evidence .. [with the hint of nefarious tampering] and the whole nine yards of media coverage [with it's unintentional/intentional biases and public perception leading] .. the case is of course ongoing even today and from my relatively fresh point of view both fascinating and sickening in the aspect that my old friend 'Sherlock Holmes' would no doubt have had this egg cracked in under the customary ninety minutes of film run-time, but alas i have to confess to being rather less of a 'clue-meister' than him because I simply just don't know anything beyond my gut-feelings that two of the convicted boys .. Misskelley and Baldwin are innocent , and have serious doubts about Echols being involved either! ... I also still cannot believe that the 'cartoon-villain-type-character' John Mark Byers was 'real'? [whom incidentally died in a car accident three days ago] ... and looks odds-on to have murdered his wife three years later too! ... he has a string of obnoxious offences both prior and after the main event to his name ... did he do it?
His older son, Ryan seems a bit odd and could stand a bit more scrutiny too... judging from the outside anyway.
And then there is the other step-father ... Terry Hobbs, who's DNA it was from the hair that was found tied into the knots used to bind one of the victims. ... and of course 'some years later' we have "Honest" testimony from "Honest" neighbours that they saw him going to the scene when he says he was nowhere near! ... and then we have his ex-wife belatedly throwing shade on him and declaring that it was likely to have been him because of the whereabouts of her sons knife and various other miscellaneous demeanour changes. [and it's not just for the self-penned book-sales-publicity of course]
... And then we have the mysterious [as though this thing wasn't mysterious enough] phantom of the unknown "Mr. Bojangles" character that there seems to be DNA evidence for [via an african-american hair] but is generally ignored and left out on the fringes of the investigations like some kind of B-Picture spectre. .. is he real ? .. if so, then what's his part if any in this case?
...Oh! ... it's all so confusing , there is so much information , and i've no doubt that the answer is right there in front of us, and that for the eponymous Mr. Holmes it would be as clear as a glass of fine perrier-water, but alas for myself [and apparently all of the whole of the Arkansas judicial system, Cops, FBI, Judges...the lot] ... any real strands of workable clue-matter has been swallowed up in the mix of publicity-seeking-bullshit... and I just can't get my mind-palace to weed them out!
... And so I make this thread in order that some of you that might be already familiar with, or newly-interested as i am can discuss the high strangeness of this case. The incompetence of investigative execution, the unorthodox behaviour of the characters ... ie. Byers , and to a lesser extent Echols. etc.

... Here are a couple of swatting-fodder-links for those interested ....
