English Channel migrant crossings hit record high

Migrant Channel crossings have hit a record high as those about to embark on the dangerous journey shouted: 'This is for Rishi Sunak.'

French police simply stood and watched a group setting off from the country's northern coast yesterday as numbers continue to rise.

Some 255 migrants made the journey across the Channel on Sunday – taking the total for the year so far to 16,457 – according to the Home Office.

The previous record for arrivals by the end of July was 16,420 in 2022. Last year 14,732 came in the same period.

The rising numbers make the challenge to Sir Keir Starmer's new Labour Government clear.

So far his most significant move on immigration has been to scrap the Conservative threat to fly asylum seekers to Rwanda.

Yesterday a so-called 'taxi boat' was seen motoring out of the harbour at Gravelines, near Dunkirk. One of the occupants of the half-full dinghy shouted to onlookers: 'This is for Rishi Sunak' – perhaps in reference to the former prime minister's now junked policy.

Is this beginning of Balkanization of UK? First smashing Barclays bank's branches, now knifing children on the streets.

This is how carnage of Sarajevo in Bosnia started. Muslims gunned down Serbian wedding party and things then went from there. What's going on in London eearily reminds me of that.

Britain pulls down the shutters as shops and businesses are boarded up across the country to protect from spiralling disorder - with far-right agitators battling police in Plymouth and pub smashed up in Birmingham

Hundreds of Muslims gathered near a mosque in Birmingham after rumours of a far-right gathering spread online. Some of those who had travelled to the area were filmed attacking a pub, the Clumsy Swan. Meanwhile, police in Plymouth made arrests as they sought to separate two groups of protesters - with a commanding officer describing the policing efforts needed as 'off the scale' with 150 officers deployed in the city centre. Frightened by the despairing scenes of violence and looting in other UK cities in recent days, many businesses have chosen to pull down the shutters ahead of time - while police have been mobilised in the town centre.

'Shouldn't you be concerned about ALL communities?': Elon Musk slams Keir Starmer for Tweet that only condemned attacks on 'Muslim' areas amid UK riots - after PM trashed billionaire's claim that British 'civil war was inevitable'

Sir Keir Starmer and Elon Musk were last night embroiled in a war of words over the race riots raging in Britain - as the prime minister raged at the billionaire for suggesting 'civil war is inevitable' following days of rioting.

Downing Street rebuked the owner of X, formerly Twitter, for using his platform to make the inflammatory claim.

The Prime Minister's spokesman said there was 'no justification for comments like that' - as his technology minister met with representatives from social networks, including X, to urge them to act on fighting online hate.

A few hours later, Mr Musk – the richest man in the world worth more than $200billion – criticised Sir Keir directly by responding to a video posted by the PM stressing attacks on mosques and Muslims would not be tolerated.

Mr Musk, who has 193million global followers, replied, asking Sir Keir: 'Shouldn't you be concerned about attacks on *all* communities?'

He added: 'We will not tolerate attacks on mosques or on Muslim communities.' In response, Mr Musk wrote: 'Shouldn't you be concerned about attacks on *all* communities?'

Britain is pillar of Europe.

If it wasn't for Britain WW2 would never had happen and Europe would be today divided between fascists and communists. As well Britain was founding member of European Union which seeks to unite all disparate nations of Europe and bring peace and prosperity to otherwise historically unstable region. British way of life and culture should be strengthened and preserved, not abolished.

As for multi-culturalism minorities should respect "when in Rome do as Romans do" maxime.

Not just minorities IMO, but anyone transplanting their lives from on country to another...Many if not most muslims who have migrated to western countries will never heed that maxime and therein lays the central problem, it seems...

They are an inevitable result of Britain's policies of mass immigration and the government promotion of multiculturalism.

There is no good solution at this point, its been a lose-lose situation since this mass migration began...The US is also in this boat although a few years behind Britain...

Somebody somewhere said that Muslim is not religion, but a broader way of life.

But what I'm learning recently was that Muslim way of life was very different a few centuries ago. Actually Muhamad was the first to give some limited rights to women, but still much before the same occurred in the West. As well there was Muslim Renaissance where Muslim scholars measured Earth's radius, invented algorithms, made significand discoveries in medicine etc. What's happening now is mostly a result of failure of many Muslim nations to separate state and religion, so state had become a tool of religion, not a secular state with aim to improve lives of their people. Iran is good example. And because state is a tool of religion they try to export ideology.

The quoted text below is the full post that Elon Musk commented to...

"So much focus from the British commentariat on X and Elon Musk and it's true that there were irresponsible people posting unverified allegations here. As there were on all other social media.

But looking at media reporting, if it wasn't for X, we wouldn't even know that gangs of armed & masked Muslim men are rampaging through cities up and down the country. We wouldn't see them hunting down and beating up white people. We wouldn't have yet more evidence of two tier policing. All we would have is the approved narrative.

You can see this with all the screaming about misinformation. When the founder of far left doxxing organisation Hope Not Hate posts misinformation about Muslims being targeted with acid which is completely false and obviously provocative, they just pretend it didn't happen.

Like it or not, human beings invented mass communication platforms. They aren't going away. Governments and legacy media want to crack down on them to re-establish narrative control. I can understand why but it's not going to happen.

Social media still needs a lot of work and things like Community Notes are an important first step in the right direction. We desperately need tools to counteract the fact that false but provocative spreads a lot faster than true but boring. That's human brains for you. It will take a lot of smart people like Elon to work out how to solve this problem in the era of mass communication.

But we're not going back to governments and the media being in charge of what's true. Politicians and journalists are the two least trusted groups in society for a reason."
