The present-day BBC will not comission a series that is not "woke". Therefore, if you still want to keep watching the BBC's output, you will have to put up with the "wokeness", or stop else stop watching. It is a completely captured organization.

The "wokeness" thing has become too much of a trigger for some people. Consequently, they can no longer enjoy any creative content that includes even a hint of it. That's too bad really. The series Sense-8 was excellent, but anyone triggered by trans wokeness won't be able to get through it. Disney has the Star Wars franchise, and there's some other good stuff there — but again, anyone triggered by wokeness won't sign-up. Ironically, the intolerance for anything with even one frame that might suggest something woke is just as bad as the woke who were preaching their intolerance and hate speech against the so-called "normies".

The BBC is a public British broadcaster. In Britain we are subjected to a poll tax where we must fund the BBC if we want to access any live televisual content, no matter if it is put out by the BBC or not, called a TV licence. It is a legitimate protest against this to boycott the organization's output. It is like being forced to take out a subscription for the Guardian newspaper if you want to read what anybody else is saying. The overtly partisan political nature of the BBC's broadcasting, in flagrant breach of its charter, is an important factor in this.

Yes — I get that. We have the same problem here in Canada with the CBC.

Disney has the Star Wars franchise, and there's some other good stuff there — but again, anyone triggered by wokeness won't sign-up.

Disney built up the Mandalorian brilliantly in season one and two only to utterly wreck it beyond repair with poor writing and the blacklisting of a main character because of her personal views that were not woke...

The Star Wars movies, the first six in particular, before Disney, are magnificent storytelling...The first of the Disney made Skywalker saga trilogy was pretty good, I watched that in an IMAX theater in Buffalo New York when it was first released...The second and third movies in the trilogy were a trainwreck, not so much because of any wokeness, (although the idea of giving a Mary-Sue the keys to everything without any effort was not the best of choices along with bastardizing the overall story of the Skywalker saga) but because of extremely bad writing...

There is a shining star within all of Disney's Star Wars movies and that would be the movie Rogue One...An outstanding movie, with brilliant writing, acting, and directing, a masterpiece by Disney, revealing how Princess Leia got the plans for the Death Star as we saw in the very first Star Wars movie called A New Hope...

All in all, Disney made Star Wars movies and series were hit or miss, the ones which failed did so not solely because of wokeness but extremely poor writing and execution...Giving woke activists who are extremely inexperienced the keys to the Star Wars 'kingdom' was not such a good idea...

Shadow was right, for those reading this who might be confused , other Shadow was right.. Doctor who doesn't just suck now. There is something almost offensive about it. I am Tolerant, I had a lgbtq daughter in a previous marriage , and in this one , I have a transgender son. I perfectly accept the culture. It's not an acceptance thing.

It feels like doctor who is being used as a platform for woke culture. I don't have a particular problem with woke culture. But when the message that they are presenting is so old and played out as two guys kissing and dancing... Well that's just horrible writing......

As Above So Below
Here is my honest view of this...I do not care for the older Doctor Who shows (before 2005), however I have not watched any of them either...I remember when I was young my stepfather watched the older Doctor Who all the time and my mother did not like him watching the show, she thought it was a silly lol...I do know the Doctor Who history and I have watched Doctor Who since it began again in 2005...

From my perspective, in 2005 when Doctor Who started up again the Ninth Doctor, played by Christopher Eccleston, was not bad...I did not at first watch every episode, just having watched a couple, three or four...Then the Tenth Doctor, played by David Tennant, came after only one year and I was hooked...David Tennant's energy coupled with some outstanding writing and storytelling, Doctor Who was riding high and had me as an avid viewer...David Tennant was excellent as The Doctor, I wished he could have continued a little longer...Transitioning from the Tenth Doctor to the Eleventh Doctor the storytelling continued to be good, but the Eleventh Doctor, played by Matt Smith, was green...It took Matt Smith a few months to fit into his role well, until then he seemed to be out of place at times, unlike David Tennant who took the role and made it his...

Doctor Who started to slip during the last couple years of Matt Smith's Eleventh Doctor, although I did like his time as the Doctor...The 'slippage' I noticed was not because of Matt Smith but it was in the writing, the quality writing was not always good, not in every episode but speckled throughout those last couple seasons...When the Twelfth Doctor began, played by Peter Capaldi the writing was more off than on...It started with little things missed or gaps in the stories, however there were some exceptions with some outstanding episodes...All in all, Peter Capaldi's Doctor would have been much much better with some quality writing, he did the best he could do with what he had...I did enjoy Peter Capaldi's time as the Doctor, he has some brilliant episodes, but some of the others could have been better...

When it was announced the next Doctor was going to be a woman, I was a disappointed, I did not think they should change a long running character from a man to a woman nor should a long running woman character be changed from a woman to a man...Then I remembered they already did it to The Master during Peter Capaldi's run as The Doctor, and that was okay, they did it tastefully and choose a woman who played the role amazingly...So I gave the Thirteenth Doctor, played by Jodie Whittaker, a chance...It did not take long to realize the she was not the right woman for the role and along with some horrible writing, I switched it off...I would watch the Specials of the Thirteenth Doctor, all were hit or miss, mostly a miss, it seemed overall they have lost the momentum and vigor of Doctor Who, it lost its way...

Then the Fourteenth Doctor, played by David Tennant, materialized and with Russell Davies writing again (the main writer of the Tenth Doctor seasons) and I knew up front it would be a brief run, only to usher in the Fifteenth Doctor, but I was looking forward to seeing David Tennant as The Doctor once more...It was not as wonderful as I first surmised, the writing was not very good and David Tennant almost acted as if he was phoning in...Now we have the Fifteenth Doctor, played by Ncuti Gatwa, and again I was at odds over once again changing a long running character, not gender this time but race, however I wanted to see how Ncuti Gatwa was going to be at the helm of Doctor who...Again, I quickly reached the same conclusion as I did with Jodie Whitaker's time as The Doctor, Ncuti Gatwa was not the right man for the role and along that, some shockingly horrible writing, I switched it off...I have been, on occasion, reading about Doctor Who and hear its becoming more and more outrageous in its presentation and very very gay...I don't care about the gay part as long as its tasteful just the same as any heterosexual parts, all of it should be tasteful and respectful for the Doctor Who show, they have to give consideration of all the decades of history this show has along with all the long running characters...This new Doctor who does none of that, it seems they are trying to shake off all that history, all the past influences, and fans...Apparently they are or have already, completely dismantled the show and remaking it in some distorted way, the writing is horrible, completely horrible, DOA...So Doctor Who hasn't lost me as a viewer, I just watch some of the older pre-Thirteenth Doctor episodes if I want to see the show...I do'nt even read about the newer episodes anymore, nothing, completely done with the new stuff and I'm sure there are some older people who would say the same about the 2005 Doctor Who lol...

Absolutely, I agree. I tried watching the old Doctor Who, and while I'm a fan of the show's canon, the old Doctor Who didn't always offer the best television. It has a peculiar vibe, and even at its best, it doesn't quite measure up to the 2005+ era. At its worst, it feels like a cheaply done PBS show.

I'm glad the old Doctor Who exists, but if you truly love the show, investing heavily in the older episodes might not be the best choice. Doctor Who is old—very old. The idea had been around for more than fifty years before the 2005 series. Even the science and fantasy ideas in the old show are outdated and clichéd.

I really liked the Eccleston Doctor; it was almost as if Liam Neeson had become the Doctor. David Tennant was flawless in the role. If I were to compare, Christopher Reeve's Superman is not unlike David Tennant's Doctor—an alignment of the perfect role with the perfect actor. Initially, I didn't like Matt Smith as the Doctor; he didn't look the part. However, he was charming in his own way, and his goofiness became a welcome aspect of the Doctor, at least for me.

Then came Capaldi. It took me a long time to warm up to him. His seriousness just didn't appeal to me, until... Then there was her. She made Capaldi look like a masterclass in the fine arts, haha. I'm not saying Jodie Whittaker isn't a fine actress or a beautiful woman, but a lot was put on her to carry a show that had already rebranded. From what I understand, they let a random rabid Doctor Who fan be the showrunner for reasons unknown. Sigh.

I still have hopes for the future of the show, but this new guy seems to be repeating Jodie Whittaker's mistakes.
