The basic premise is that in the future Earth has colonized Mars. There are now tensions between the two planets. In the first episodes a detective is sent out to find a missing woman. Her father is an important rich man. From there the plot takes us out into space.
The technology is what you might think we would have in the near future. There are no warp drives or phasers. The actors are great and the plots are futuristic but believable.
After the first couple of years the series was cancelled by Syfy. Jeff Bezos liked it so much that he bought the rights to the program and continued it.
