The failed Turkey coup

The more i read about this failed military coup the more I'm beginning to wonder if Erdoğan is really behind this failed coup attempt to weed out dissension and force a more firm hand upon the country...He said the coup was a gift from God and he has shown his dictatorship tendencies too often.

Turkey has no place in the EU either, that country is far from European in its standards socially and politically. One reason for this is the islamic presence which has a foothold in all things in Turkey. The EU isn't truly Christian either in its jnfluences but the dominate nature of religions that become mixed within politics is dangerous to peace and liberty in a democracy although the EU is mixed with socialism.

Erdoğan is rounding up all opposition it seems. I never liked the guy, he's taken Turkey away from the secular State it once was.

I think this failed coup was Turkey's last chance at staying a secular nation and keep Islamization at bay...

This is an interesting read, so it would seem once the purge is done the military will be in Erdogan's pocket..

Erdogan is really taking advantage of the opportunities that the failed coup has given him to clean house against real and perceived enemies. I think the upshot is that, one, the military is now Erdogan’s. The military, which up until this point has been autonomous unto itself, is now in chaos and subject to the control of President Erdogan. Two, it is open warfare on the Gulen movement.

Turkey's politics have eroded so much they can no longer be considered a model for the middle east. I do not think Turkey should be a part of NATO any longer either, they are far from the secular liberal state they once we're when they applied for EU Membership over 10 years ago.
