I spent over four months investigating the claims of the late Harald Malmgren, one-time ambassador and big-time story teller. I examined ten specific claims in light of FBI files that I got declassified on an expedited basis, job applications signed and certified by Malmgren in the 1960s, and other impeccable documentation. This material proved many of the stories he told late in life to be grandiose fabrications.

After publishing that 20,000-word overview on May 20, 2025, I completed a deep dive into one particular Harald Malmgren claim: That he had stymied a push by General Curtis LeMay to launch a nuclear first-strike on the Soviet Union, after Premier Nikita Khrushchev had already "backed off" at the end of the Cuban Missile Crisis in October, 1962. Under scrutiny, that story disintegrated entirely. Three top experts on the Cuban Missile Crisis told me it was baloney. I found plenty of other evidence that their negative assessments were correct. My article was published June 9, 2025.
