I drive a small diesel Nissan Micra. Here in the UK petrol (gasoline) is $4.40 a gallon (£1.16 a litre). Diesel is about $4.80 a gallon.

I wondered what the current prices were over there, I don't know what diesel costs here, I never owned a diesel powered vehicle however premium gasoline 93 octane cost me $2.46 a gallon yesterday when I filled up...

It is thought there will be such a loss of tax income for the gov with electric cars that a per mile tax will eventually be brought in.

Are you serious?..That's insane to tax per mile, a tax like that will certainly do the opposite and cause people to refrain from driving as much or cause more people to purchase electric cars lol...

7 inches of snow is a great tonic for my cooped up family. Sleds the snow saucer and other fun awaits. The boys are already plotting the next snowball war.

I've been in my workshop all day doing some programming work on the side, and looking for a notebook I have stored away which contains information I need...Haven't found the notebook yet, still in front of my laptop finishing this work up...

And by the way Windows 10 really really really bites, I've never had software crash as much as Windows 10 does always in the middle of me doing something important... Windows 7 never crashes like this which is why I'm on Windows 7 now, after Windows 10 crashed on me three times today...

No but it does when I'm remote connecting to another computer or if I'm uploading files through FTP...Its very frustrating until I switch to another partition and use Windows 7 or Slackware Linux, then everything is fine, they never do that and never give me any problems...

Yesterday I had the two front tyres (US tire?) replaced, each was $72 (£55.00). The existing ones were Continentals and I was quoted $120.00 each if I wanted them.
The rear passenger tyre had a slow leak due to a nail in the centre, it was repaired for $33.00 (£25.00).

It is about four years old and was a basic model but the stop start has rarely operated (the dealer gave me a long explanation about how the engine had to reach a certain temperature and the ambient temperature must be above such and such and so on).
Otherwise it has lots of effective electronics, the lights auto dip for oncoming traffic then return to full beam, the handbrake is automatic so if you stop uphill the car is held for two seconds when you take your foot of the brake to let in the clutch, it has a radar behind the front badge that gives you a warning peep peep if the car in front is suddenly getting closer, auto lane warning and a display of the current speed limit.

The gadgetry is amazing. I rarely buy vehicles and the tech is stunning. I replaced my '98 Cherokee with an off the lot entry level 2015 Ford pickup truck. One step up from rubber floor mats, zero additional amenities, very much a fleet vehicle type vehicle. You can almost triple the price for the loaded versions. And yet as I sat there in the dealership lot with it running it reached out to my phone and suddenly I heard Stevie Wonder singing Signed Sealed Delivered It's Yours ! When I put the cap on there was some concern that the rear tail lamp assemblies contained blind side radar units (they don't). The backup camera is neat but I don't really use it. It has a lot to say about a lot of things if you want to poke at the buttons ( I don't). One thing I know for certain - if a UFO ever stalls it out on me I'll be at the Ford dealership having them vacuum every last detail out of it's apparently long memory with their factory equipment; it'll be a better witness to the event than my testimony.

I've been trying to help out a Brit who wants to import an old muscle car into the UK. Apart from the fantastic cost involved I can't imagine tearing around in a 8-10 mpg car at those prices. Tyres, petrol and things tatty under the bonnet !! Cool.

When I was little I had a Lionel Santa fa super chief Tran set. Yesterday I found one for sale. And so my boys will have the best train set ever. It's destination wherever the mind takes it.

I have a model railroad set up in my basement. I've got some older stuff that belonged to my grandfather and uncle that no one else in the family wanted so I still have the old tubular track instead of the fast track.

I haven't visited the forum much lately because I've been so busy with my new job and stuff going on at home. It's nothing personal. I just don't have much time for social networking right now but I guess most people are pretty busy with the holidays coming up.

It's actually really nice to hear that someone has new employment. A large amount of people have been posting about their jobs becoming redundant.

All I do at my job is pay bills. It should be done by computer but it's for a state agency and all their invoice have to be carefully coded to make sure the money comes from the appropriate funds and grants. Frankly, it can be a real pain in the ass.

Today I finished up all the holiday errands, drove to the city today, the stores were packed with people, traffic was a mess, but it's a big city so it's expected this close to Xmas...Got the family gifts taken care of and stopped at the big Petsmart store too while I was in the area, turned into an all day thing, I got home about an hour ago...Once I got out of the city limits all the traffic disappeared, imagine that lol...I hope no one with covid was around me today...

Stay safe. You ever noticed how Petsmart store seems to be always located near an Outback Steakhouse?
Not sure if there is a connection (God forbid) but perhaps you should stop in for a steak and etc., whenever
you go to Petsmart?

As a matter of fact there is a Outback steakhouse within a mile of Petsmart lol, seriously, I passed it driving to the pet store...I've never eaten at Outback either, but in pre-covid life when I drove to the city I would sometimes stop in the Texas Longhorn steakhouse which is another half mile down the road from Outback...They had a bar and I'd stop in and have a drink, if I haven't eaten yet thst particular day I ended up having food brought to me, they aren't too bad...

I live about an hour and half away from the city of Charlotte NC, which is where I went today, I live out in the country and farmlands closer to the mountains which I frequent in the warmer months of the year...The biggest city I've ever lived in was San Diego back in the early 90s, now I'll never live in any city again, the further away from people I can live the better for me...No offense against people in general, I just don't need to live near people and I've been this way a while now, not because of covid...My closest neighbor is an 1/8 mile away in the woods and that's too close for my comfort, I plan to retire in the mountains, if anyone wants to see me they will have to that a long drive to get to me lol...

The case of the destroyed apple pie.
IMG_20201222_221650220.jpg .went to the refrigerator to find an apple pie totally destroyed and mostly eaten.
Went to the room of the prime suspect Samantha Justine age 5.
The suspect was covered in apple filling a plate of pie on the floor.
Helped the suspect clean up and cleaned up the pie mess with the help of my assistant Rikki.
The suspect was told to ask Mommy and Daddy for pie..
Case closed

I've never eaten at Outback

I've done enough traveling on business to make the rounds of the chain eateries and now avoid them like the plague. Generic term is So Happy It's Tuesday

In TX there are (were maybe, been a while) Saltgrass restaurants that put on a great feed. We even have a Texas Roadapple not too far from here and it was pretty good. I usually try to look for something different. There was a great diner - Blueberry something - a few blocks off the Las Vegas strip that put on a breakfast I still drool over. They offered street theater for patrons - a meth head went nuts and had to be removed while I was eating. Didn't care, I cleaned my plate anyway. Too good to let get cold.

Whenever I can't locate something, or I have a problem making a decision, I do what
my father taught me to do when I was a child. He said "ask your Wife, and then do
just the opposite - it usually turns out to be the right thing".

You should have checked his plate for bacon as well - he won't be eating it in lockup.

Should probably have put this in Hobbies but I'm just venting. Chewing nails actually.

I spent the past few weeks tracking down vacuum leaks on my old car and rebuilding the carburetor after a bad flood down. Took a while because shipping is delayed, plus as soon as I was done we have a blizzard. Wasn't really in a hurry.

So today I roll that green p.o.s out in the driveway and want to just turn it over a bit with the coil disconnected to fill the fuel bowls - and now the starter wants to run wild. Had to pull the battery lead which meant getting the right wrench and getting behind the seat into a compartment. Probably looked a bit Keystone there to anyone watching.

Arrrrrrggggh. Fixable but right now if I had TWO asses this would be a pain in both of them.
