The Real Reason Americans Are So Fat | Men's Health

"there’s an even bigger problem, one that Guyenet tackles in his soon-to-be-published book. “Our brains contain circuits that are playing by the rules of a survival game that no longer exists,” he says, “and those circuits tell us to crave fattening foods.” "

The first step to breaking those circuits is to acknowledge they exist, and to recognize when they’re pulling us toward a bad decision, one that we’ll soon regret. The second step, Guyenet says, is to re-engineer our home and work environments to help us avoid those temptations in the first place.

There are a lot of factors contributing to the obesity epidemic: genetics, the increased use of high fructose sweeteners, the increased availability of fast foods, the lack of availability of healthier foods, etc.

The bottom line, however, is that people worldwide are eating more and exercising less. People need to permanently change their lifestyles and exercise every day and watch their calories.

I've seen that video. Yes, it is pretty amazing.

I think the biggest problem is that we've passed the tipping point. There are so many obese people now that it makes you feel skinny, even if you're overweight.

Its sad.. Its not that hard to stay at a reasonable healthy weight... But them kids get attacked by the multinational food companies at a very early age.. Its up to their parents to fight it ..
If they dont care,, well chances are , fastfood nd sugar will be the priority.

When I was growing up in the 1970's, it was a big deal to go somewhere like McDonald's or Kentucky Fried Chicken. We would go maybe once a week or every other week. A lot of families now go to places like that every day.

The Story of How Fake Sugar Got Approved Is Scary As Hell

"It's well established that there is a correlation between being overweight and diet soda consumption, but the question is which way the association works. Do people who are overweight tend to drink diet soda, or is something about the diet soda contributing to weight gain? A 2015 study found that long-term consumption was associated with increased waist circumference. And a 2016 study found that mothers who consumed diet soda while pregnant had babies with a two-fold higher risk of being overweight at age one.

While the question of whether the sweetener causes weight gain, diabetes, or other metabolic disease is unsettled, there are some remarkable correlations. A 2013 Purdue review over 40 years found that people who regularly consume artificial sweeteners are at increased risk for obesity, type 2 diabetes, metabolic syndrome, and cardiovascular disease. A 2013 analysis of more than 66,000 women showed that consumption of both sugar-sweetened beverages andartificially-sweetened beverages was associated with increased risk for type 2 diabetes. And another major finding came when researchers from Harvard Medical School analyzed data from the Nurse's Health Study and found that women who drank more than two artificially sweetened sodas per day had a twofold increased risk for kidney function decline over two decades.

But the latest research is working on models of causality, not just association. At the Weizmann Institute in Israel, researchers found that feeding mice artificial sweeteners caused glucose intolerance, one of the key markers in diagnosing diabetes. Through a series of experiments, the researchers concluded that the sweeteners were making changes to the bacteria in the gut (called the microbiota), inducing glucose intolerance. The researchers did a small follow-up study in humans and got the same result.

Another concern, Lustig says, is that artificial sweeteners may make you more likely to overeat. Two recent studies show that artificial sweeteners result in an increase in insulin levels in response to other foods consumed. That is, drinking artificial sweeteners has a metabolic effect that changes the way your body reacts to other foods.

I have been going to lunch with my workmates.

I said, "Fine, once a week we will Splurge in the goodies as long as you also have a salad or vegetarian meal another day to balance it out.

I started paying attention to the clientele when one one workmate commented,
"You know where the good food is when it is full of fat people."

Today we went to a vegetarian restaurant... Most of the people there were thin but strong and healthy people of all ages.

    Nuff said.

I experimented with this on myself, and I know for a fact my appetite doubles when I use fake sugar early in the day. If I have it, I can ravenously eat a large plate of food before I realize I over ate. When I do not have any sugar or the fake sugar, I can't even finish the food before I realize I am full. I take at least half in a To-go box.

A doctor told me that diet sodas contain aspertame, which is bad for your heart. A dentist told me that diet sodas contain more acid than regular sodas, making them bad for your teeth. Drinking too much of any type of soda is bad for you. A lot of it is just common sense.

And then there's the cost to society in bad health and medical resources needed to treat them.

I've been admited once to a hospital. And that was after eating a bad steak at a hotel in Aberdeen Scotland, he

I have a friend who had to have his leg amputated due to diabetic ulcers. My sister had to have her gall bladder removed. There are so many complications from obesity most people don't even know about. It's very sad.

Aspertame is a nerve agent used in nerve gas. Of course it tastes sweet. So does Antifreeze to animals, that why they drink it, but it's also a poison which kills ~ as you may have surmised.

Aspertame..good God, of all things approved for consumption is a result of this Dickhead named Donald Rumsfeld and his partnership and inside power with the Reagan & Bushshita corporate crime rings. Donald Rumsfeld reportedly received a $12 million bonus for his role in introducing a toxic nerve agent in everything from sodas to chewing gum. I love gum but of course now I won't chew any of it at all, and of course all breath mints and anything remotely along those lines are all carriers of the deadly agent. This is complete proof that the government is not working for the people of America.

I keep telling people that they are trying to kill you. Making you sick is about making their corporate health care system profitable, it's what the socialized health care system is really all about, it's not about helping anyone except the rich. Every program that's forwarded is a clever trap, national health care being the most diabolical of all of them currently, so now will you start to believe it when I say that they are trying to kill you?

Did you know that Aspartame was banned by the FDA twice? How is this product legal now?

The Shocking Story of How Aspartame Became Legal
The Shocking Story of How Aspartame Became Legal

PS: just look at the posts, we all know it's poison and yet again no one can stop the criminals in DC from forcing poison into the food chain because they are all in bed with organized crime, aka, corporate dictators and mass murders.

I think you are right with one additional point...

They do want to poison us, but they aren't trying to kill us. They want us fat and to have low self esteems, and they have sabatoged our educational system, recesses, lunches, to keep the majority of us as fat and in low in self confidence as they can. They structure everything to convince us we need them to survive.

In their self deluded state of power, they refer to us as ' the masses'.

High power officials do not acknowledge that we are anything more than something they 'keep'... just as cattle are 'kept'....

This is the thing we need to rebel against, and we do it by showing them we will not be fattened like cows, but we will control our own destiny...

I guarantee you, nothing will impress on them more, than if we all get in shape, physically, accumenically, and emotionally, mentally... then they will have no choice but to acknowledge us, because we as a 'mass' will hold the power, and all will 'know it' by looking in our eyes.

It is time for a health revolution!
