Bob Oechsler was a NASA engineer who had an interest in UFOs, and he got sucked into a disinformation plot employing mind control through (it seems) microwaves. The plot was originally aimed at UFO writer Timothy Good. In 1987 Good was contacted by an organisation planning a travelling exhibition about UFO cover-ups, who wanted him as their "UFO consultant" (or to be more accurate, victim). But he suggested instead that they contact Oechsler, who immediately agreed and was sent to a meeting with a general in the Pentagon. On his way in he passed through a "security scanner" that had a devastating effect on his brain. When the general asked him if he thought it would be better to put on display a model alien body or the real thing, he saw nothing unusual about this. Over the next few weeks he "remembered" travelling to NASA centres where astronauts were floating about in an anti gravity field and UFOs were being tracked.... Of course the organisation cancelled the supposed exhibition and the Pentagon and NASA denied everything he thought had happened. There is a detailed account in Good's book Alien Contact, 1993, and not only does Good apparently fail to appreciate what had happened, but he seems totally unconcerned that he, and not Bob, was the preferred target of the operation (which would, of course, have completely ruined his credibility).

So rather than blame Oechsler we should feel sympathetic.

Right you are! The diaper boxes hold my bulk brass, and my cats live in the basement watching over my reloading stuff.

LOL. And that crew of dolts consisting of Wendelle Stevens & some of his pals wasted their time & $ going over to Switzerland and kept a straight face when Billy would say things like "And then the alien walked out of the beamship from that direction, came up to me and then we both sat down under this tree exchanging information." Yeah, ok.
