Time Slips and Time Traveling?

Researcher Claims Time Slips Have Trapped Thousands of Brits in the Past

Have you ever suddenly found yourself in surroundings that seem familiar yet out of place with the current time? Did you feel stuck there – watching events take place that appear to be decades or even centuries in the past? Did you just as suddenly find yourself back in the present, with no explanation – drugs, brain injury, wizard, time machine – for this experience? You may have fallen into what is known as a ‘time slip’ – a popular plot device in science fiction to facilitate time travel. Many people believe time slips are real — paranormal researcher and author Rodney Davies is one of them.

A recent article about time slips in The Daily Mail includes his warnings that many disappearances in Great Britain – perhaps thousands of them – are due to people falling into time slips and becoming trapped in the past. Do they take keys, remotes and socks too?

Of these (people who fall into time slips), some have returned to relate their adventures, while others have left notice of their strange exploits in the form of objects fossilized in solid rock, or as footprints impressed thereon.

In his 2019 book, “Time-Slips: Journeys into the Past and the Future,” Davies tells accounts of those who claim to have experienced them, but he tells The Daily Mail they’re difficult to explain.

One theory states that past, present and future are all one. But our limited consciousness can only experience time by being in what we know as “the present”.

While some people experience brief flashes of the past surrounding the area they’re in, some have told him they’ve spent long periods there – walking around, conversing with people, interacting with the surroundings, perhaps even living there for a time. He presents stories of modern items found in fossils as evidence:

Well, there have been some very odd discoveries. I researched stories of strange machinery found by 18th-century laborers and jewelry discovered in seams of coal.

In the book, he links so-called ‘ancient aliens’ to time slippers.

The author suggests that many of the ancient deities were in fact time travelers, who, having discovered the technique of time-slipping, went back to take practical skills and moral guidance to earlier peoples, but who found that their self-seeking benevolence created unanticipated problems for themselves.
This implies that one can master time slipping, which means one must know where these time slip portals exist. The Daily Mail conveniently lists a few based on stories like those in Davies’ book – Devon (in Compton Castle), Cornwall, Kent (in Leeds Castle) and on Liverpool’s Bold Street, which many investigators attribute to the subway trains running in concentric circles beneath it, spinning open a time slip.

Could time slips explain many of the mysterious vanishings around the world? Are the time slippers Davies writes about real, hallucinators or hoaxers? Could time slips explain Bigfoot or some other cryptids? Aliens? Gods? Or are they just a sci-fi plot device used when no other explanation works for a mysterious disappearance?

Davies seems more worried about the thousands of Brits he thinks are caught in the past. How can they be returned? If you’re in Liverpool, never go anywhere without some old subway tokens.

Cool. Howard Hughes has talked about this.

"So clearly, if time slips do exist, it’s surely only a matter of, er, time, before someone is discovered holding an iPhone in a photograph from Victorian times"

But it's a time slip, why would we have to wait? Couldn't the gadget be from our future and already be in photo - Hitler holding an iPhone22 or the like? I may may have to do some Star Trek TOS research on all this - they seemed to have it ironed out pretty well.

There's plenty of history before the use of photo and video recording that a time slip destination could occur, maybe an old painting locked away somewhere that shows a guy holding a cell phone or there's an ancient manuscript detailing someone with strange clothing or carrying an unknown device or wearing modern type of glasses...?

This was pretty good. Journeyman (TV series) - Wikipedia
Ultimately went nowhere but I liked the idea. Not really a spoiler but after a time slip the main character is handed a newspaper - that's obviously fully animated and interactive that we have never seen - and asks 'what the hell do you want me to do with that?' I always thought that seemed about as honest a reaction as you'd get in a situation like that

Interesting. I'd like to see those. Don't recall seeing anything about it, but I generally ignore TV. There was a well done pilot for a series that never was bought, that I saw a few years ago. I was a bit surprised no one bought it. Don't recall the title, but the setup was believable enough to make it work. It was quirky enough to make it fun. I'll see if I can dredge up enough information from my leaky, polluted memory banks to find a link to something about it.

Safety Not Guaranteed is a good movie about time travel, though it is set entirely in the present. I've seen it three or four times. I just noticed it's still on Netflix this time around. Well worth looking up.

Granny might just be scratching or picking taters out of her ear. But when you look at our friend in the other shot, boy that caught me by surprise! But a little snooping tells me zip up hoodies were available in that period and those are glacier - mountaineering - sunglasses, also available during the period. He wouldn't be out of place at all walking around today. Maybe he's tapped into a classic style.

I think its absurd, there are no cell phone towers nor satellites in the early 20th century, so I seriously doubt any pictures of someone using a mobile phone is legitimate...If someone time slipped to the early 1900s with a mobile phone, the phone would work for picture and video taking but they would have no service so no one would be holding the phone in such a way like they were making a phone call...Who would they be calling?...

If a whole bunch of people have been trapped in the past, wouldn't the advanced knowledge of least some of them result in major changes to the timeline?

Maybe thats how the microchip technology started and progressed so quickly, it wasn't aliens, just future people trapped in the past...All it takes is one person trapped with one piece of future technology...

I just want everyone to know I've notified the Department of Temporal Investigations and they'll have this all squared away. Or maybe they did already. How could we tell?

The hipster dude in the first photo certainly does stick out. I recall when that first hit the interwebs. There were quite a few self proclaimed experts claiming it was a photoshop job. Then the museum that owns the actual photo dug it up and posted about it. The experts were suddenly very quiet. Hipster Dude was probably an interesting character. If I recall correctly, the photo is from the upper Midwest, Minnesota or so. An area I'm familiar with, and it's still a place where most people look and act pretty much the same. Notwithstanding oddballs like The Artist Formerly Known as Prince.

Yeah that is an interesting picture, the 'Hipster Dude', if he was time slipped and stuck in the past I assume he didn't have any luggage with him, so the clothes he was wearing is all he has...Any new clothing would blend him in with the rest of the people of that era...I wonder if he wrote a letter to himself to warn of the time slip lol, if it was an accident...

What is this woman holding in her hand?...

...

Screenshot_20210526-225529.jpg

Marilyn Monroe was one of the world’s most known actors back in the 1950’s. In this photo we can see a fan of hers attempting to take a picture of the actress, without her knowledge. However, the camera they’re using resembles that of a modern day smart phone. Complete with what appears to be a leather case around it, with a safety handle.

This has convinced many of time travel, and there hasn’t been many that have been able to disprove the image. However, many have said that the woman isn’t taking a picture of Monroe, but simply holding something else. That something else is unknown, but many have speculated it’s a mirror of some kind. It’s worth noting that the woman is looking intently at the thing in her hand, as if she’s going to take a picture with it.
