There are many things in some people's mind that really escape me. One of them is the lack of critic for people bashing others. Another one is the fact that people look for people responsible of the community (I don't speak about forums where there is no real reponsability for the people's fate), that is leaders, and when they get one they speak about 'delusions of grandeur'. What could have you said to Christ calling himself 'Son of God'?Yup. That's it in a nutshell. Typical untreated delusions of grandeur.
There is a big trend that democracy has generated: people decide everything!
THAT is a big delusion of grandeur, actually. If they can vote for someone, they do not control why, how and to what real end the person they choose 'offers' himself/herself to the votes. If people really had power on everything they would choose the best one among the population, without that person choosing his/her fate to responsabilities. But they can't. At the end of the day, people can only choose those presented to them by a partial and fully oriented smaller community. Do they accuse the one they will choose of 'delusions of grandeur'?
Once the person they chose is in the place, they do not control him/her anymore. So, people has one shot to choose, without really knowing him/her, nor the smaller community, if any, and comes what must come.
This is exactly what happens with God's choice, except that He is far wiser than the humans because He can test the chosen one for years, and even lives! The big difference is that in the human democracy the leader often serves himself/herself first, while the chosen by God serves God's Plan aiming at serving the community the way God decides it to be.
The stereotype of the wise hidding in a cave, not interacting with the world, taken as the best model of wisdom, can't take responsabilities. And the world MUST have people courageous enough to lead others to the light.
To make a long story short, in the whole history, there always had been leaders. All being accused of 'delusions of grandeur'. But what people forgot is these leaders' spirit of service because people have no idea what it means and what sacrifices it implies. The only grandeur that I serve is God's!
