I read a theory somewhere that the reason debris was never located is because it was actually a comet that struck the area instead of a meteor. Since comets are composed mostly of ice, it vaporized quickly. Also, the fact that comets travel much faster than meteors could explain why there were no witnesses.

I've heard it was a comet as well.......but whatever the case it was an air burst based on the pattern of the tree.

Bear in mind there was very little in the way of debris found after the Chelubinsk event in 2013.
