UFOs: skeptics, disclosure, and contact

My problem with balloons isn't so much that they are an unreasonable explanation, but rather that the people who claim that some UFOs are/were balloons are pulling about 60 inches of vacuum in terms of credibility. Remember, even if Roswell was caused by a balloon, the USAAF/USAF is now on official explanation number three for it. All the while claiming they don't study UFOs/aliens/paranormal in spite of spending millions of dollars and employing many people on just those things over the years.

Pentagon creates legal waiver allowing personnel sworn to UFO secrecy to come forward

By Richard Pollina Published Sep. 15, 2026, 2:19 a.m. EDT

The Pentagon is now allowing current and former personnel sworn to secrecy about Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP) activity to legally share that information with the government.

A legal waiver has been created and this will allow past and present service members, civilians and contractors to provide UAP-related National Defense Information to official representatives of PURSUE — the Presidential Unsealing and Reporting System for UAP Encounters, the Trump administration’s UAP task force, the Department of War said Monday.

The waiver overrides any existing non-disclosure agreements or Special Access Program Indoctrination Agreements when the information is provided through the authorized PURSUE channel.

The move aims to create a pathway to review and potentially declassify UAP-related documents — directly aligning with President Trump’s mandate for comprehensive transparency on UAPs.

It expands on a July directive in which the Trump administration ordered the Department of War and the intelligence community to permit former employees with UAP knowledge to come forward to the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) or PURSUE.

Before Monday’s announcement, anyone with access to classified UAP information remained bound by those same NDAs and Special Access Program Indoctrination Agreements — known as SAPIAs.

For decades, fear of legal liability and losing their security clearance kept those with UAP knowledge silent — until now.

Under the new waiver, those who come forward to PURSUE cannot be punished, stripped of their clearance or face legal or administrative penalties for breaking their NDAs.

“This waiver removes those barriers by explicitly authorizing covered disclosures to PURSUE representatives without triggering breach-of-agreement penalties or standard NDA violations,” the Department of War said.

Trump has said repeatedly that he is skeptical about the existence of alien life, but mandated transparency about UFOs after former President Barack Obama said of aliens during a February interview: “They’re real, but I haven’t seen them.“

The Trump administration’s most recent UFO files release revealed that government employees witnessed a triangle UFO near Colorado Springs in 2023.

While the waiver opens the door for current and former government personnel to report UAP activity, it remains unclear whether the Pentagon has any plans to investigate the massive number of UFO sightings reported by the general public.

Earlier this month, famed TV host Dr. Phil McGraw accused the Pentagon of disregarding more than 1,800 legitimate UAP reports submitted by members of the public.

The only options available to the public are two private, non-government databases — the National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC) and the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) — that allow anyone to submit reports about UFOs and unexplained encounters.

Through NUFORC’s catalog of data, more than 1,800 UFO reports were classified as “Tier 1,” meaning they represented the most credible sightings on record, McGraw pointed out.

The AARO — the Pentagon division responsible for examining UFO sightings — has repeatedly promised to begin accepting public reports, but has yet to do so.

AARO said on its website that “reporting is limited at this time to current or former US Government employees, military personnel, or contractor personnel with direct knowledge of US Government programs or activities related to UAP dating back to 1945.”

I suspect this is nonsense but it got my attention this morning. Just to note: the Tehran Incident from 1976 was on September 19.

Of course, US and Israeli warplanes recently made a leisurely circuit of the skies over Tehran to send a message, maybe this is another one. Could it be the Discombobulator itself?

I asked Grok to look at the video and it did not detect AI or fakery in it although it's of low quality. Apparently there are more than one videos, several people recorded it. Who knows what the hell that thing was. Of all places to just show up it picked an awfully coincidental one making me think there's some psyops involved.

Even if its psyop, that is still pretty impressive to pull off. The late Chris O'Brien found documents suggesting that the American defense establishment had (or claimed to have) workable stealth technology that went beyond low radar signature, such as silent helicopters and visual stealth via surface electromagnetic charge.

If it is UFO, then it makes total sense for it to show up in a region of the world where contention between nuclear armed nations is going on. It may come out years or decades later that nuclear stuff went on the fritz when it showed up.

I've heard Chris talk about that sort of thing and that goes back a while.

Cash Landrum was 46 years ago and the witnesses described more helicopters herding the radioactive diamond than the US Army ever operated in that part of the country. Maybe we're looking at a mature form of some sort of optical illusion tech to send a message and it's not hard to divine what that is over Tehran. When I hear the thunder of hooves I think horses not zebras.

Well, as far as we know anyway. I don't think Israel has ever admitted it either. I think the real question should be, if Iran did get a bomb, are they actually dumb enough to use it? I think the only value it would have for them would be the same as for North Korea. As in, they get into a scorched earth fight with a world power and/or NATO and they launch it a nanosecond before their complete military defeat happens as a last middle finger to their adversaries before they join the list of nations that no longer exist.

Israel won’t admit it but yes they have nukes. Whether Iran would use one is secondary IMO. The first test detonation Iran performs would probably be followed by an overwhelming Israeli response.

This is interesting. Jesse Michels interviewed Reagan's secretary of energy John Herrington recently, and podcaster Brent Friedman made some claims that Herrington was like a second father to him and was also involved in some top secret spook stuff which he had confided in Friedman about. Herrington denied any of that, and Friedman counters by saying that Herrington had warned him he would deny it if Friedman ever talked about it. It wasn't in real time, but a good listen just the same. I would say the truth lies somewhere in between.

Recommended / Unmissable - Very long story by Chris Ramsey, but extremely spooky and weird UFO story, strictly for end of the day if you want to slowly fall a sleep. Mixed in Luigi Vendittelli MUFON investigator, Christianity, ultra-mega strange lineups of multiple coincidences, UFOs coming out of holes in the sky, etc.

My take on it, this is how EBs can manipulate us any way they want. What is your take?

I haven't looked into it in a very long time but there's something about Salas' story that doesn't sit quite right with me. I think his story has changed and he gets prickly when challenged about anything.

Here's another take on this: the man grilling had a couple beers in him and decided to just screw with the chubby little physicist ;)
