'It looked like a giant Tic Tac': New TV series with the former head of the Pentagon's secret program that investigated UFOs and Blink 182's Tom DeLonge examines sightings, including USS Nimitz incident
The highly-trained military jet pilots were flabbergasted by the unknown object.
The afternoon sky was bright and blue when the two Super Hornets' exercise off the Californian coast turned into a real mission. Rerouted, they came upon 'a bizarre craft' poised over the water: It had no windows, wheels, or flat surfaces.
'Smooth. White…. No smoke trail. It looked like a giant Tic Tac,' one of the pilots said, noting that the unidentified flying object was around 40 feet. 'Large enough to scare the s*** out of me. It was so unnerving because it was so unpredictable.'
The pilots reported to the U.S. Navy what they encountered that late fall day in 2004, but for years they were not taken seriously. The first part of an upcoming TV series, 'Unidentified: Inside America's UFO Investigation' on A&E's HISTORY, which premieres on May 31, examines what has become known as the USS Nimitz incident and video of the oval-shaped object taken that day.
