Sick to do such a thing, the same thing happened in Virginia, there should be terrorist charges brought up in that incident too, it doesn't matter if the driver is Muslim or a neo nazi or anarchist, it's a terrorist act...

A man has been arrested on suspicion of terror offences after a car crashed into a number of cyclists and pedestrians before hitting security barriers outside the Houses of Parliament in London, police have said.

Streets around Parliament Square, Millbank and Victoria Tower Gardens have been cordoned off as dozens of armed police swooped on the scene. The length of Whitehall is completely shut off to traffic, with the cordon extended up to where the road meets Trafalgar Square. Officers could be seen surrounding the car before leading a man away in handcuffs. A number of ambulances were at the scene.

Scotland Yard said: “At 0737 hours today, a car was in collision with barriers outside the Houses of Parliament. The male driver of the car was detained by officers at the scene. A number of pedestrians have been injured. Officers remain at the scene.

A guy runs over a bunch of cyclists and crashes into a car park barrier at Westminster Palace during a parliamentary recess. This is not terrorism.

What would you call it then?

Personally I think he should be charged with treason if he is found guilty of terrorism offences as should all terrorists.

In particular, I want to know more about the perpetrator's mental state when this happened. I have my suspicions.

There three choices for this person: 1 to be found mentally insane and sentenced to an institution, 2 found guilty and sent to prison for the rest of his life, or 3 executed after a trial and a guilty verdict.

His silence tells me he was waiting for the usual claimants to take credit for none affiliated acts of terror.
He could have carried on straight up the side he was on and ended up where he did. He chose to mow them down.

Failed wannabe terrorist who probably felt detached and oppressed by Western culture. Or he got his pedals mixed up. I do see your point as he had no weapons. It's why I feel a bit sad for this one.

Reminds me of the dyslexic bank robber who leaped into a bank, shouted KO mother stickers, this is a fuck up.

I am not saying it was an accident. I believe his actions were deliberate. I am just saying that he is clearly not a terrorist, but likely just someone unhinged and thus unable to competently enact a plan to inflict terror.

If I drive my car at people, then speed toward the police outside Parliment and ram the barrier in a time when vehicles driven by terrorists are driving at people and killing police outside Parliment. What would you call me as.

You would be a criminal. If you did it during a parliamentary recess you would be an imbecilic or mentally deranged one.

What if changed my target to a Mosque closed for refurbishment.

I see terrorists as deranged individuals straight off the bat.

Same difference.

They are certainly nasty people. However, I only entertain the notion that a person is an actual terrorist if they are serious. If their actions result from mental illness, having had no previous connection with any political cause, then they are not. Terrorists usually have particular political aims, and act in such a way to attempt to further those aims.

In the British press a term was coined of a 'have-a-go hero' as someone who, being a bystander to an act of street crime takes it upon themselves to intervene, particularly if they bungle their intervention. We have seen a lot of bungling have-a-go terrorists of late, whose relation to real terrorists is like that of have-a-go heroes to trained law enforcement.

What about Darren Osbourne, the nutter who drove at the Finsbury Mosque. Should he have gone done down as a terrorist. Forty three years he got and one could say the same about him.

An elderly gent did die in that attack but if not for luck I think the recent one could have taken a couple of lives.

It may be me, I don'the know but a have a go hero is doing a good thing. To me there is no correlation with a have a go terrorist.

One gets rewarded, the other becomes infamous.
