Wars & Rumours of Wars

I admit being skeptical of a negotiated solution but know that decades of such have led to this. Doesn't anyone remember how far back this goes? Our embassy in Beirut bombed, the Marine barracks destroyed costing hundred of lives, genocide of Christians, our diplomats abducted, tortured, killed. 444 days of hostage drama followed by a humiliating failure in a rescue attempt. This list could go on for a very long time listing one atrocity after another. They have admitted nuclear ambitions and have been allowed to create a substantial missile capability - who in their right minds thinks anything other than the blatantly obvious was going to happen after they achieved their goal?

Whatever happens I really have no problem with blowing them right back into the seventh century their Sharia law seems to want and I am not hearing any nation building nonsense. I don't think they've yet felt the full weight of what CENTCOM has to offer and staying out the range of shore based missiles makes sense. Yes, I understand it illustrates the threat. Once the Iranian proxies run through their stores how will they be resupplied? Up until now it's been as simple as Amazon Prime, not so much anymore. Certainly not in the quantities they are used to or with the frequency.

You could make a moral case for bombing the People's Republic of China, or the Democratic People's Republic of North Korea, so why not bomb those too?

There is a surge in petrol theft across UK because of hike in petrol prices:

To elminate the Iranian regime would require full commitment. The trouble is that Trump is hesistant and is trying to balance escalation in the war against its economic impact and resulting domestic voter sentiment. This is the most unpopular start to a war in the history of measuring voter sentiment in the United States. He did not even have the American people on his side. Allied democratic leaders are also facing similar constraints, so it is little wonder that they refuse to join in.

One very good reason is they are nuclear powers. In North Korea's case they also had/have massed artillery well within range of Seoul.

Actually, Truman correctly fired MacArthur for wanting to nuke China.

Iran made this case for themselves, they just didn't expect a US President to ever do anything and that was a miscalculation. An understandable one at that. Revealing your identity is also in this situation and I bet several IRGC leaders that have piped uprecently will be the targets of another round of refined decapitation strikes.

I wouldn't be so quick to estimate US voter opinion based on the inane current media reporting as their accuracy rate is abysmal. The opinions I hold are hardly the exception.

Pump diesel is the best indicator as it reasonably reflects home heating and electricity costs. Fuel prices are notably dropping here and at no point did they come close to what we have paid in the past. Places that shoved their green energy policy down citizens throats like California are literally paying the price for that. If the UK and EU are bitching about fuel pricing I'd suggest reviewing energy policy. Ursula von der Leyen urging you to reduce energy consumption sounds a bit wan to me.

Well, regardless of what I think, it would appear that the Trump Adminstration believes it. The Republican party can do its own primary research on what they think the effects of the war are on voter sentiment.

Traditionally the opposite party typically takes the midterms, Trump has said as much many times. I think they are realistically expecting exactly that, I certainly am.

That said, right up into Election Eve experts were predicting a blowout for Harris and surprise ! We'll see what happens. In the meantime back to the blowing up of lots of stuff. Tomorrow should be an interesting news day.

Apparently at the behest of Pakistan because of the fractured nature of what's left of the Iranian regime.

There are convincing and completely contradictory articles about shipping in the Strait but I did read that India may send warships to escort its own vessels as a result of the recent incident. I also read that they were fired upon because a hacker somehow got the ransom payment in crypto instead of the IRGC goons at the toll booth so they did not have permission. I do know we seized another tanker last night.

So when's that big European task force supposed to show up? Easier said than done.

They have already announced that it will not be until there is a permanent ceasefire agreed between the belligerents.

Interesting. This has to hurt.

Naturally this will be instantly dismissed by the media.

Iran scrambles to store more oil as Kharg Island nears capacity under blockade pressure

Iran is reportedly moving to expand crude storage at Kharg Island by reactivating the 30-year-old very large crude carrier M/T Nasha, a sign that the country’s main oil hub is nearing its onshore storage limit amid the US blockade of Iranian ports.
Maritime analysts say the vessel, which had been anchored empty for years, is being repositioned as floating storage to absorb crude that still has to move out of the system.

Iran made 11th-hour offer MINUTES after Trump cancelled peace talks as regime buckles under blockade

President Donald Trump said Saturday that Iran made an offer to the US about 10 minutes after he canceled the trip his special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner were set to make to Pakistan in an effort to continue peace negotiations.

He told reporters before boarding Air Force One in Palm Beach, Florida, on Saturday that Tehran 'offered a lot, but not enough.'

'They gave us a paper that should have been better,' Trump said. 'And interestingly, immediately when I canceled it, within ten minutes, we got a new paper that was much better.'

Trump also reiterated his claim that there is 'tremendous infighting' within Iran's government. He said Iranian officials are 'probably fighting for leadership,' adding that he will 'deal with whoever runs the show.'

Iran has not yet acknowledged or confirmed what Trump said about its supposed 'offer.' The country's remaining leaders often contradict the president's statements on the status of diplomacy between itself and the United States.

Trump's remarks came after it was revealed that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi left Pakistan on Saturday without meeting the US delegation.

Iranian officials previously said it was not yet ready to hold a new round of face-to-face talks with American officials, citing Washington's refusal to abandon 'maximalist' demands on key issues.
