This is when my wife and I start talking about moving to a warmer climate, which we will probably never do. Hard to just throw a dart somewhere.

It's one big glazed donut out there today, an ice palace.

This is the time of year I begin to climb the walls and right now I'm out of projects

It's bitter cold here, 19 degrees this morning, a forecast high of 45 degrees expected today, dropping in the teens all next week too...No snow in the forecast, just cold and more cold...

We were supposed to have a bright sunny if cold day yesterday and like flipping a switch we got a surprise heavy snow squall. It didn't stick for long but may be telegraphing the winter ahead that I really am not looking forward to.

Going to try to get the old Chevy out for a good heat soak so I can change the oil and put it away for the winter.

We got almost 2 inches of snow overnight, first snow in a few years...The roads were not bad, I'm at work now, the back roads are worst but I had no issues...

Every afternoon is gets totally dark and windy and snowy - off to quite a start this year. I had to finally replace my Muck boots and Carhart parka. I must be getting old I'm freezing my backside off.

I dropped something on my foot and it gouged up my left Muck boot and it leaked. I put a hunk of that Flex Tape on it and wouldn't you know it the stuff actually works as advertised. This would've made the 4th winter that stuff survived waterproof through had I not finally ordered a new pair. Only did because it does look a tad hillbilly because it is a tad hillbilly ......... figured I should up my game a bit.

It has been above freezing and raining and now we are in for it big time, you can literally feel it. In the next eight hours or so the temperature is supposed to plummet to at or below 0ºF and start snowing. They're only calling for 6" fortunately.

Good thing I check the generator. When I did the oil change last I must not have put one of it's two dipsticks back in tight because when I started it the thing shot about four feet away and spewed oil everywhere. How I wasn't standing right in front of it at the time is a mystery for the ages. It's all cleaned up and topped off now.

That would have sucked if it happened when I actually needed the thing.

We got about 8" and it's all powder, a side benefit of the arctic temps.

I could bitch about snow throwing and ice and all that .... but nothing's on fire, the Sky isn't angry with anything, I guess maybe it isn't so bad.

We are about to get hammered by that Northeaster churning our way, it looks downright scary out there right now. I went out and got fuel for the generator and removed the deck furniture so they don't become missiles, charged up various batteries and lights. Compared to what other areas of the country have had this is nothing.

It's crowding 100ºF today and tomorrow with extremely high humidity. Ooof.

I actually sat in the hot tub yesterday when it was in the 90s because I weaned myself off ibuprofen and needed something to deal with the arthritis. It was .... transformative... now I know how ravioli must feel just floating there

Fall is officially here and like flipping a switch it got cold fast. I serviced my snow thrower yesterday with some nice Mobil 1 synthetic 5W-30. I never used it's electric starter but for the first time in 20+ years it's not sitting in my warm garage it's down in an unheated building. Best to service it when you can do it in the sunshine on a warm day.

Old man talk I know. I'll only mow the lawn a couple more times this year but always pressure wash everything to remove grass from mower decks, drain gas, change oil, sharpen blades, lube everything so they are ready to go next year. Problem is I am always wet and freezing my ass off in that process and who wants that ?

Ye Gods it's cold out there. Dark grey day. Air temp says high 30s but the wind will sweep you off your feet and there are snow squalls. You'd think I would be acclimated but noooope. I can deal with extreme heat but with this, not so much.
