There was a fairly severe thunderstorm thst came through here late last night, caught me out in the workshop and I rode out the storm in there lol...Fortunately the very worst of the storm passed a couple miles or so South of my location, I think they got some hail and trees knocked over...

Today we have several pop-up storms passing through, it's about 90 degrees and forecast to have scattered storms for the remainder of the day and into the night tonight...

Chicago residents flee to basements as TORNADO warnings sound ahead of city being hit by 100F temps for the first time in a decade: Scorching heat dome settles over Midwest and South before it moves to NYC

Tens of thousands have been left without power after a tornado hit during Monday's afternoon rush hour, bringing 80 mph winds (left) and powerful storms throughout the area that knocked the lights out for about 44,000 residents in Chicago, Maywood, Broadview and Westchester. It forced many to take shelter in their basements, local malls and open businesses on the street to avoid the chaos (top right, all while the storm clouds head eastward, sending thunderstorm warnings to Ohio, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. It comes as the Midwest is experiencing a scorching heat dome (bottom-right) sending, temperatures soaring to 100F and creating the conditions for powerful storms heading to New York City by Thursday.

We've had normal temperatures lately, nothing out of the ordinary, but this week we've received much more rain than normal...Strong thunderstorms have been passing through every afternoon/evening at around 4 to 6 pm almost like clockwork...

Last night a second wave came through around 11pm and it rained half the night...My dog woke me up because of his fear of the thunder and lightning...More thunderstorms are forecast for this afternoon and tomorrow afternoon...

104f right now and big flooding rain storms heading this way, they might go a bit to the south and miss us. but there building this way. anyhow On my outside ac unit, a tiny plastic cover that is in the center and the motor for the fan is right underneath it. well its been missing and the bearings were squealing not bad i could hear a high pitched whine, so i made up a cover that keeps the sun off the metal that the motor bearings are close up against. it made a big difference. no whining sound, it dont make a clunk sound when shutting off, and startin up easer, cant believe what a tiny cover makes on them things. Its almost 20 years old, were getting a new window unit for the place and keep the central air but not use it. id rather fix or replace a window unit than a central a/c unit that old, i just use for back up, till i get $$ for a new system.

More than 100 homes are WASHED AWAY and at least 40 people are missing after torrential flooding in Virginia: Governor calls state of emergency

The flooding, which transpired late Tuesday, has left several families without a home and many without power - on a day where temperatures 93 degrees. The Dismal River area, set in the western part of the state, was particularly devastated by the sudden storms, with homes now washed hundreds of yards off their foundations into stretches of road. Water levels reportedly reached 11-and-a-half feet during the catastrophic event, spurring Virginia Governor Youngkin to declare a state of emergency Wednesday. The floods serve as some of the worst seen in the area in decades, and rescue officials are still struggling to assess the full extent of the damage. More than 40 people had been declared missing as of Wednesday afternoon. Officials have yet to report any casualties.
