Mine were all prepared and individually sealed in plastic pouches . Not much chewing went on.

I made it to the port on them and got a free boat ride where people took pity on my appearance, with offerings of food and drink.

Then when back on English soil I blended in with the street people of Canterbury and took tea with them in a shelter. Went to the lavatory and used a cubicle that had a hole bore through to the adjacent, where I saw an eyeball that I stuck my finger in.

I hope I never get that desperate..

Although in my early adulthood, I had several days where I lived on 1 egg, a lot of white rice, and a cheap pack of frozen veg.

That got kind of boring real quick, but a I kept doing it because it fit the budget.

I think it did me a favour.

Casablanca to London, on foot with one mate, no money, stolen drugs and wearing a poncho and a white feathered red felt cowboy hat.

That wasn't desperation kchoo, it was heaven and a great journey for the mind, then and today.

The people I met I will never forget. Especially a German guy who let us ride with him as he busked through Spain. Jen was his name and I thanked him with a chip off the old block.

I never plan what I'm going to eat on any given day, sometimes I will think about what to cook for dinner within a couple hours or so of wanting to eat, but that's the extent of that lol...

The clothing we both wore were from a time we spent living in an underground garage. Beneath a night club in Benidorm called Ramones. At the end of the garage was a hole In the wall that i crawled through and found that someone else was living down there with us. The night we left, we went through the cases and I dressed as mentioned and my mate came out as a lumberjack. Never saw the guy we took from but he must have been showman down on his luck.

I left who's ever it was a bottle of Vodka and another chip off the old stolen.

You are right. Loneliness can be meaner than the worst companion...
    Coffee does help, though....
