That is a convenient way to explain why he got the Wright Brothers wrong....a lame excuse but one just the same.
But unless physics is different in his time melting ice will raise the sea level. Both are still red flags to me.

This agrees with what Stephen Hawking has said about possible time travel.

I saw somewhere that Hawking said "time travel" into the past is not possible.....just can't recall where.
Its on the tip of my tongue.....but I'll probably remember at 4am....lol

Hawking explained that time travel into the past could only be possible if one were to travel into the past of a parallel universe. Such as same Earth but different Earth.
Reasoning is that since it is not our past, any changes would not effect us but only our counterparts.
That would prevent paradox.
I read this in one of his science writings somewhere years ago.

Hey, Nope, not that I am aware of, Titor closed shop in 2001, that predates it.

I haven't heard about the Titor case for a long time. There were a handful of us who discussed it years ago on an old forum...can't even recall the name of the forum anymore.....I always thought it was an elaborate hoax that became more elaborate over time.....but it was well executed.

It's typical for stories to become more elaborate over time, like with any good legend, most likely had a real event for its source but became exaggerated over the passing of time...

I meant there are legends and stories from the past that have been twisted and stretched into something more but originally perhaps based upon a real event that occurred to start the legend or story...

Good question which I have no answer for, when I first read about this fellow years ago I pondered what could have inspired this story, I drew a blank...
It's a good tale in my opinion, whether it's true or not we probably will never know, there are a few others of a similar theme that are equally good stories, some posted on the forum, but lacking any evidence except the words of the people involved...
