Whoopi Goldberg Suspended.

Earlier today, I Made a post venting an interaction I had earlier in the day. Most people would be justified to be leery of posts I make, Assuming I'm not in a stable place of mind right now. I would understand that.
This is a subject removed from that earlier experience, I place this post Tactfully though Because the subject matter is still tricky to navigate.

So, Whoopi Goldberg was Suspended from the View Today, A Show I am certain that most of us don't really partake in. The problem is, When you discover why and how she was suspended, you may have opinions on this. So here is a short video about what happened.

So She was Suspended for commenting that the Holocaust wasn't about Race, It was about People being Evil to people.

While I don't agree with very much that Whoopi has to say, And I don't agree with that statement either, We all know Race played a huge part in the holocaust, The problem is, I don't think her comments were coming from a hurtful or bigoted place, It was just kind of a Dumb comment she said. This isn't to mention that this was just her take on a huge issue, on a Show called the View, Which is all based on opinion, to begin with,

The world has gone insane. I wonder if any of us even remembers what sanity was like. It was such a long time ago..

Dont get me wrong, I'm not defending Whoopi. In fact, I dislike the woman, She is an arrogant Somewhat racist person herself. ... I guess I'm defending the idea of Diversity of thought. Think about it. If every politicized group got their way in forcing people's opinions to change, In time do you believe we would have a one-world order? Or just one group opinion that is shared amongst everyone?

Nah, That will never happen, there will always be people who go against the grain, Just because they don't like the grain. People join politicized groups for power. But the cost is freedom. Look online, There are very few places anyone may go and just Offer up their own undoctored thoughts on any subject. Someone will always come though who knows just a little more about the subject and turn it into a homework lesson for you. diminishing you of your own individuality of thought. This is why it's important to have your own thoughts and feelings and defend them, Even if they are wrong Because they are yours and yours alone.

Didn't quite have the right button to click on those posts but I agree-ish with what I think you are getting at. Tired of the ultra sensitive cancel culture nonsense and the double standards that go along with it. There are real social problems and that sort of foolishness only serves as an irritant.

This also proves that just because you're on TV you might not be that bright. Entitled with a high opinion of yourself definitely, but worthy of spewing your brand of intellectualism - not so much. Plain old stupid is underrated. Maybe read a *****g book once in a while.

That said, out of the pool with her. Live by the sword, die by the sword. What ridiculous nonsense she uttered.

At least the Whoopi we like will forever be young and nice in the Nexxus - and doesn't weigh 500lbs there either.

Here's my reply on the incident from the PC Madness thread.
While for many decades, most people have regarded most Jews as white, this wasn't always the case. The Nazis certainly didn't consider them to be white. And since then, various Aryan groups have had the same perspective. Moreover, stretching back into history, ethnic group, tribe, and race were usually employed synonymously. "Race" doesn't have an inflexible, unitary definition. Whoopee is quite ignorant for a talk show host. Although bad in itself, it's exacerbated by her obtuseness.

As for the suspension, it was predicted beforehand that the parent company, Disney, would feel pressured to do something, as they have actually fired (or pressured to resign) others for less. Chris Harrison lost his job with The Bachelor because of defending a contestant who had attended an antebellum plantation themed frat party in 2018.

In his interview with Lindsay [a former Bachelorette], Harrison expressed sympathy for Kirkconnell and implied that the criticism directed against her was unfair because the photos were from the past. When Lindsay said it was not a good look that Kirkconnell attended a party celebrating the antebellum South — a time period when slavery was present — Harrison said: “Well, Rachel, is it a good look in 2018? Or is it not a good look in 2021? Because there’s a big difference.”

Dina Carano lost her job with a Disney owned property for invoking a holocaust analogy.

So, unless Disney wanted to open itself to charges of bias based on someone's politics or celebrity status, they had to do something. But note, Whoopee hasn't been fired, at least not yet, so so far she's making out better than the other "offenders."

My personal opinion is that even handed cancel-policies are better than biased cancel-policies, but that not automatically canceling people for having unusual or unpopular opinions is better. A wide range of free speech, and even lifestyles, dress, and party attendance, ought to be tolerated. Instead, a trend of private enterprise managed totalitarianism has been developing for some time now.

Ahh I didn't Realize this subject was already covered in the Pc madness thread.

if Nivek or Shadow wants to merge this with the PC madness thread. That would be the perfect place for this.

I think they were too light on her, she should have been fired, if she was a white woman she would have been canned and if she was living in Germany she would be in jail now...

I know it's gonna sound weird, As a person, Whoopi is pretty Nasty, I mean, She is almost poetic justice, She is old and has lived long enough to see herself transform into the Villain, I think I'm being too lite on her personally because of Picard Season 2..

It's not even that I'm a Guinan Fan, It's just I'm worried her presence may harm Picard season 2. And Q is gonna be in season 2 So you know it's gonna be good,, Hopefully. But Yeah. Sadly, Thats about as deeply as I can invest in Whoopi. She is ultimately a hateful person who has abused her power to sway social unrest for literal Decades. To add to this, She was one of the first people on board to defend Bill Cosby.

Anybody know how or why she came up with the 'Goldberg' moniker? Unless that's her real name?

According to this article, The Real Reason Whoopi Goldberg Changed Her Name Her Stage name is tantamount to a fart joke. "Whoopi as in The Whoopi cushion" I would pretend that this isn't hilarious, But Just knowing her very stage name is referencing a fart joke just makes me smile a little lol

Juvenile as it may be, "An old unfunny joke" describes her Hollywood career so aptly...

After all that, this resurfaces...

Whoopi Goldberg's fake Jewish past: The View host wrote 1993 recipe for 'Jewish American Princess Fried Chicken' then claimed SHE was a practicing Jew - as insiders slam 'decades' of 'disgusting' appropriation and anti-Semitism

Whoopi Goldberg's suspension from The View this week is the pinnacle of a years-long habit of making off-color remarks about Jewish people that includes a recipe she wrote for a celebrity cookbook in the 1990s called 'Jewish American Princess Fried Chicken', DailyMail.com can reveal. In 1993, Goldberg - whose real name is Caryn Johnson - submitted the recipe to Cooking in The Litchfield Hills, a charity cookbook comprised of recipes from the well-heeled residents of the leafy Connecticut suburb. DailyMail.com exclusively obtained a copy of the long-forgotten cookbook, where Whoopi's recipe mocking Jewish-American women glaringly stands out amongst friendlier submissions like legend Diane Sawyer's 'roasted potato skins with scallion dip', the late Eartha Kitt's 'summer zucchini soup with nasturtium blossoms' and Oscar de la Renta's 'fresh pumpkin and crab soup'. Whoopi's recipe reads: 'Send chauffeur to your favorite butcher shop for the chicken (save the brown paper bag). Have your cook 1) Melt equal parts oil and butter 3/4 deep in skillet over moderate heat. 2) Put flour, seasoned with remaining ingredients, into brown paper bag. 3) Rinse chicken parts and place in bag. Then you tightly close top of bag (watch your nails) and shake 10 times. Hand bag to Cook, go dress for dinner.'

Wow, Okay, IF she somehow remains uncancelled at this point it will be a miracle. If blackface is "cancel worthy". The internet wont allow jewish face a free pass I wager...

Well, the cancel culture needs to be canceled, no doubt about that, however with that in mind, the View could be a decent TV show, but only if it were canceled...
