I think the best way to help most people is to teach spiritual tools,
start with the quieting exercises (Zen Buddhism), and then go to more advanced things from there,
it could do lots of good in this world,
to bad most people just don't care about any form of self improvement much less trying to help everyone around them.
I really like this post.
I think it brings up an interesting point that many people do not even care about self improvement. Our society focuses on obedience, by putting us in a classroom box and teaching us that the box is all there is.

Kids are creative, playful, imaginative, but school wipes much of that away in favor of merit related to conformity to their basic rules and simply to do what they are told.

Where is the focus on expanding the consciousness in all that?

If we all sat around trying to quiet our minds all the time, I suppose we would all starve to death, so there are things that our physical bodies need that require a creative and active mind.

Man’s strategy on how to hunt and fish seems pretty interesting. Animals mostly just overpower each other., but the human makes spears and clubs and nets and snares.

We imagine and create tools that make it easier for us, so in that sense we already have an expanded consciousness in many respects over ranimals, or at least, the desire to engineer ‘conveniences’ .

Perhaps a natural progression of ‘conveniences’ will eventually lead us to have nothing better to do but quiet the mind and expand consciousness, as we learn to merge the concepts of spiritual and self into a collective as a slow form of evolutionary growth?

Perhaps quieting the mind would be the wrong direction. Perhaps we need to let the noise in. Maybe all of it isn’t really our own individual noise.

Maybe the mind is so noisy because we do have empathy, and we do receive too many telepathic things/channels at once, and we think it is just our unsettled mind being crazy.

Perhaps we are already capable, but we have not learned about tuning in to Telepathy properly?

the quieting the mind is the equivalent of turning off all the unwanted background programs and viruses on a computer.
it leaves you free to totally focus on what you want, or run the computer program you intend.

you are suppose to do the quieting exercise until you get good at it, then you go do other things.
not like the zen people that never move to the second step.

so,
once you are quiet,
then you can really listen to what is out there and
accurately here what is out there (and not just a mess in your own head)

I don't know anyone that has practiced the quieting that regretted it.

As Above So Below
I have a real problem with assigning the word "spiritual" to a state of human consciousness. When we wake up each morning, we don't call that a spiritual experience: we were simply sleeping, and then we woke up (sorta). Waking up from the dream of thought is no different; it's simply a change in the state of mind - you were half-asleep in the half-waking/thinking state, and then you woke up from the dream of thought. It troubles me when we assign religious terms to this - it's perfectly natural, like being born.

Spiritual work is not religious, has nothing to do with religion in any way...Waking and sleeping as you described is a mechanical process, has nothing to do with an awakened consciousness which needs no sleep in that sense...
