Yellowstone Supervolcano May Blow Faster Than Thought

I started this thread in end times because if this volcano erupts it's probably going to be the end for most of us...

If the supervolcano underneath Yellowstone erupts again, we may have far less advance warning time than we thought.

After analyzing minerals in fossilized ash from the most recent mega-eruption, researchers at Arizona State University think the supervolcano last woke up after two influxes of fresh magma flowed into the reservoir below the caldera.

And in an unsettling twist, the minerals revealed that the critical changes in temperature and composition built up in a matter of decades. Until now, geologists had thought it would take centuries for the supervolcano to make that transition.

Yellowstone supervolcano could blow faster than thought

I dont know but i think letting the volcano to errupt naturally would be good for earth but probably not good for mankind. So maybe avoiding the volcano instead is better than stoping it?

No it wouldn't be good for humanity....but for the time being its all we can do. We are not able to stop such an eruption at this time and won't be able to for sometime..

We cannot possibly rehabilitate that much population and the rest of the world is pretty cramped up too.

If i have not mistaken the yellowstone volcano only effects the US and with the help of the UN (United Nation) i think it could be possible.

But i heard that this supervolcano could cause something like ice age. That im not sure of..

Thing is Yellowstone is a super volcano, which means possible Extinction level Event simply because of the amount of stuff it will eject into the atmosphere, it will be catastrophic for the entire planet over time. so the movement of people even from the immediate danger zone would be logistically impossible..

A Yellowstone eruption would cause a worldwide volcanic winter due to millions of tons of ash and other chemicals into the atmosphere. Temputures would drop 20 to 30+ degrees worldwide and it would last for 10+ years. That would kill crops and other food sources. Mankind would be on the brink on extinction within just a few years time. This would be a extinction level event.

Life as humanity knew it would end......but many cold weather species would be fine though somewhat challenged.

Some societies would be fine as they are already without things like electricity and are raised living off the land like the aborigines in Australia.

The Mount Toba eruption 75,000 years ago created a genetic bottleneck in humanity......but there wasn't a mass extinction among the sea and land critters.

Toba is also smaller and does not erupt as violently as Yellowstone has and does. It's possible some species would still be around, but it would be incredibly hard. After a few years food would be a struggle to find. Most likely cannabilism would be the result if you wanted to live out the volcanic winter. Harsh to say but that would be the reality of things. Personally I'd rather put a bullet in my head than eat another.

A good idea.
I thought that energy idea had been proposed before though some 20 years ago.

If they're not precise and careful they could cause the event they would try to prevent...

I'd like to see NASA actually use that energy. It would be free energy if done right. As long as the mantle moves and the core doesn't stop spinning it would be a finite energy right?

There is no place on the face of the earth that is 100% safe from natural disasters. Here on the East Coast there is a potential for catastrophic hurricanes every summer. On the West Coast there is the potential for earthquakes and tsunamis.

We can survive any of these disasters if we act wisely. The problem is, we're not acting wisely.

On the Outer Banks of NC, for example, vacation homes have been built along the oceanfront for many miles. In most areas there is only one main highway for evacuation. If that road gets blocked or a bridge gets knocked out, the population is screwed.

On the West Coast modern high-rise buildings are said to be safe in the even of a major quake or tsunami, but I have my doubts.
