My wife has a friend who calls. When she does you are looking at an hour long monologue.

My wife is in a constant cloud of phone calls with her family. It's a network NORAD should study.

What about the drunk dialers ? You got some #s that show up on caller ID that you don't answer after a certain hour ?

We get calls from Middletown PA which are always garbage. I block them constantly but they must own a thousand numbers. It’s galling to say the least.

My mom used to unhook the phone after 9 pm, much to the irritation of me and my sisters. This was pre-cell phone so landline was all we had. She never would tell us why she did it either. Finally, years later my youngest sister confessed that it was because my stepdad's sister was an alcoholic and loved to call her brother at night when she was sloshed. Stepdad was a bigwig college professor and thoroughly embarrassed at how his sister wasted her life.

Eyeglasses. Been wearing them since I was 9. I've got the same pile of old glasses anybody who wears them has. Sometimes they feel great and then after a short while give you headaches that get even worse after you add up how much you wasted on them.

So a few years ago I found a frame that was absolutely perfect. I have two pairs that are seamless bifocals, one is dedicated sunglasses the other changes in the sun. Sunglasses because a car window prevents the other glasses from turning dark. I got safety glasses and contacts too - all from Sears Optical. Well, that's done and over with. They lasted quite a while at least.

How Pearle Vision and LensCrafters stay in business is beyond me - they are literally 50-100% higher than anything else. I hate Walmart but have to admit they have their act together, at least the local one does. The first two idiots want $200 for an eye exam including contacts, Walmart is $99. I'll buy whatever contacts they offer no problem but they don't have any frames for me.

You hate it when the absolutely perfect frames you've been wearing are no longer made. Times are changing and Amazon will be delivering the closet match I can find today. I have all the specs and measurements. At least returns are easy if they're not right, but I just had a hard time believing that a giant like Walmart couldn't just order what I wanted. Instead they are sort of stuck with whatever they are sent. Frustrating. I used to have a magic insurance card I could wave at Sears and never pay a red cent. Wish I still had it.

This 100%. My head is just a wee bit larger than average so most frames don't fit me. Last pair I had came from Zenni optical and their online sizing thing was surprisingly accurate. My vision has changed to where I can get by without glasses 99% of the time so I don't worry about it these days.

As I understand it Walmart optical is practically a separate company, or at least around here they are. In our stores, the doctor is a contractor and not an Evilmart employee. There were some things that Sears actually did right, optical was one of them.

They seem to have their act together so far. I'll see their optometrist Friday.
I got my frames from Amazon and they are virtually identical to what I have now. Very close, not ideal but it's what I can get. You have to get into the sizing printed on the temple.

Ugh, the worst thing about working retail is all the people who are just looking for a captive audience. And, you just have to stand there and take it because you need the job. Last Thursday I was working my side job shop and a guy came up and started lecturing me about how the WHO is going to take away our gun rights because they have already taken away our sovereignty due to the USA following their covid rules. He made sure that I understand that all the democrats voted for doing just this, and that I need to tell every single one of my customers about these dastardly deeds afoot. I did the most I can do: I just stood there stone faced and stated "duly noted" at the end of his lecture. Of course, he asked me nothing about the products we sell or anything else related to my actual job.

I went to a local gun shop once and when I went to pay the nitwits behind the counter were ranting to each other about something. One decided to come out from behind the counter, walk behind me and poke me in the back several times somehow relevant to his point.

The only point he had was the one on top of his head. What a dick. Never went back.

There are regular gun shows at the Harrisburg Farm Show. The couple I attended had plenty of dealers with Nazi flags raised and books about all manner of Nazism (Mein Kampf.) Go figure.

Never saw that. What's way more common is weird beef jerky in quantity and socks by the bushel. I posted here once about an actual Nazi rally I inadvertently attended. They were real nice. To me ... as I slowly backed away.

Luckily we have an optometrist just a few miles away. He is a young guy who built his practice up from scratch. He loves all the lately gizmos for eye testing. His prices are reasonable and Medicare covers most of the eye tests. I prefer him to shopping mall eye care.

Got invited to a cookout at a gun club some distance from here. They host these things by renting their facility to raise $$. It was a motorcycle club and I went on the old pigiron. Took me a few minutes before I noticed all the ... regalia. Yikes !!

People like that do more damage to gun rights than the entire gun ban movement ever could.

Outlaw motorcycle clubs have been using Nazi stuff since WWII. Apparently, it began with former fighter pilots decorating their jackets the same way they did their planes. Each small swastika indicated an enemy shot down. At some point the motorcycle counterculture noticed that swastikas and SS symbols were a good way to give the finger to respectable society and it has continued ever since.

Welcome to my world (sort of)...My dog is almost 12 years old now and didn't have this problem when he was younger, but now he can't help but to do his business without once in a while making a little mess on his backside and legs...One day he surprised me with this issue by getting the back seat of my car or bedroom carpet smeared...I quickly figured out what was going on, so anytime he does #2 I check him immediately afterwards and clean-up as needed...I now keep his backside fur clipped much shorter now to minimize the mess but it still happens sometimes...

I can't stand questionnaires or bills where you are expected to reply by snail mail. Naturally, I never respond to the questionnaires. But the bills are an aggravation. I always seek a telephone option in such cases.

Not too fond of receiving paper checks, either. But at least I can deposit them via my bank's app.

I imagine there's an assumption that certain people, especially senior citizens and the poor, don't have internet access. But that's no excuse for not providing both mail and online options.

Thats one big reason why all our pets are mostly outside. My oldest dog has gotten to where he can't help when it lets loose and I doubt there's anything the vet could do for that.

My wife and I take poop monitoring as a integral part of our day. Amount, type, lack thereof, location. These are important things we take time to discuss. Why, just this morning I had to clip some dried poop from Frank's long fluffy tail. He's 8, not old or overweight or anything just a slobovian as some are. When he eats it's like he's feeding on a zebra and gets bits of fershtunken wet cat of bits all over everything.

Years ago we picked up family at the airport for a visit and when we got back to the house my faithful companion Max greeted us by crab walking the length of a hallway unloading diarrhea. The things we do for love .........

Selling anything on Craigslist is a pain in the shorts. Some times it's just done and over with but more often than not it's like having little birds peck at you. Why bother someone if you're not serious?

Motorcycle wheel chock, a big one. $50. So it's not like it's anything super valuable. Owned that bike 20 years and serviced myself. Last year I bought this thing and thought how nice it was, then sold the bike. I gave a ton of stuff to my neighbor with his brand new Low Rider but this one will sit on CL a while as it's literally brand new. My wife sold a really nice jacket for me at a thrift store - she's an ace at that sort of thing. Had Kevlar plates in it - all sorts of crap I rarely used.
