What do you think, was Atlantis real, or just legend?

If it was real, what is the evidence for it? Apart from Plato, who never have intended to have his words taken literally, the only "evidence" for it seems to be from mystics, like Edgar Cayce. Are the people searching for it engaged in a wild goose chase?

If Atlantis was just a legend, is it based on truth of some sort. Was there a real civilization that could have been the impetus for the Atlantis story?

I'd say it was the Mount Thera eruption and ensuing tsunamis that took out the Minoans around 1700 bc is the basis for Plato's work.

No one will probably come to grips with the legends of Atlantis. You may as well throw Lemuria or Mu into the mix as well. That was the island/continent located in the Pacific Ocean.

the palace of krossos in Crete Is a candidate for the origin of the Atlantis story . it has been traced to the minotaor myth as well.

Atlantis was a large continent in the Atlantic ocean, it had nothing to do with the Minoan civilization or any other in the European side of the Atlantic...This continent was the home of the fourth race of mankind, the giants of old and legend...The continent was not lost all at once but broke up and sank in three major stages, the first was over 150,000 years ago and the second collapse around 80,000 years ago which left a very small portion left that sank forever around 10 to 20 thousand years ago...I'll have to check my sources on these dates, I am writing this from memory currently...

At its peak the giants of Atlantis controlled most of the developing world, these giants were not only physically strong but had strong psychic powers and they used them...Its said their technology is what instigated the continent's instability, also the people after a time became divided, some more focused on the physical world and others focused on the spiritual world and this division caused a couple of great wars between them...After the second sinking, many of these giants spread out amongst the rest of the world and many went into hiding from the fifth race of man, people like us...After the final loss of Atlantis and about a thousand years after its said the major powers of the world united to rid themselves of the giants that remained as they were destroying crops and buildings, causing mankind a lot of troubles, so systematically the great powers of the fifth race united and went out and killed every giant from Atlantis they could find...

This a very concise but I wanted to give an overview from material I have researched over the years on this subject...

What kind of sources are you availing yourself of? I'm sure they are not conventional archeological scholars.
While, we're on this topic, do you regard Lemuria and Mu as real as well?

Lemuria existed long before the Atlantis continent and was the birth place of the 3rd race of man, the third stage of seven in evolution and development, again from same sources as above, which some are very old, others very old and esoteric in content...

I am willing to listen to alternative sources of knowledge.
With your mentioning of the "3rd race of man" it seems that you are drawing from Theosophy. Is that correct?

That is incorrect, I am drawing from 'some' sources in which Theosophy draws upon and also those sources sources...

Fascinating! I'm keen on learning what some of those sources are. You must be quite a scholar to have penetrated beyond Blavatsky.

No I'm not a scholar, but its my life work for my own inner development so to speak, and I needed to know some things, all my work and research in this regard I have done for myself, but isn't that the only way?...How could I possibly walk that path for someone else?...

Since many scholars think Plato invented the story of Atlantis and few, if any, scientists think Atlantis actually existed there can be little if any discussion of this alleged place or continent from a solely archeological perspective either...They used to think similar about the city of Troy as well...

So what perspectives are left? Are there esoteric texts that describe Atlantis? I know Edgar Cayce believed Atlantis existed.
