Doomsday Bunker

A group of psychiatrists were asked to provide input on what would happen if there was a nuclear war and people hid in these types of bunkers and survived the initial blasts - they were unanimous in their opinions that survivors wouldn't be able to deal mentally with an irradiated, decimated & lawless society - and that the majority of survivors would end up eventually committing suicide.

I think there would be mixed results from a nuclear war or some other calamity which could cripple our civilization...There would be some people who would be able to handle the situation quite well, although it may be difficult...There would be still others as the OP suggests, people who would not be able to psychologically handle the situation and perhaps commit suicide or give up in some other way...There would be still others who would use the situation to take control of things, gangs or criminal elements...There would be still others who would be hidden away in various places throughout the world, tucked away from notice, living out their lives alone or in very small groups and not trust anyone enough to expose themselves...
