I don't know, Guys, This post will blow your minds, But, I'm not trying to blow your minds, I'm just pointing out how lucky we are to live in the times that we do. We have a Blessing, That no one stops to count. We live in a time when hate and bigotry abuse and slavery are condemned things. I don't say these things, To offend people, Or scare people or, hurt people. Everyone here knows I have dedicated my life to studying, It's not just because I want to know things. It's because Everyone's mind is a muscle. If we don't work our brains out, Like a muscle, We lose them.
I'm going to be Spouting a lot of uncomfortable facts here. Some Will disgust people, As it should, I mention these things only to illustrate how much the world has changed in a very short time. We can debate philosophically if humanity is progressed, Or, We can accept that in the last four hundred years. Humanity has literally evolved into a superior form.
Mind you it was just 1920 when women got the right to even vote.
Sexual abuse against a child was outlawed in 1973, 1973!!!!
When this song came out,
People were still doing horrible things to children and it wasn't a crime?!. I study History, I study policies, We have changed a great deal for the better. But, What excuse do those people who lived in those times, What excuses do they have for their crimes? There excuse is simple, It wasn't a crime when they did it.
So, if it weren't for how far we have come, How many people would still own slaves? And yeah, we can have an ethical conversation, Oh no shadow, I would Never own a slave. Ever Never, No shadow you are wrong, People can lie all they want to, If it was legal for them to own Halle Berry, We know a lot of people would. That's just a common-sense fact. in fact, Now that the example is made. Why is Halle Berry so important, If people could legally own other people, Then many people would find an excuse to own one, It's the greed of human nature and all the ethical prostration in the universe can't change that if the times and laws were different, We would be different as well.
We can look back on the past with Rightful disgust, But we do so from a different place and time then they lived. We judge them because we are better people, we have changed so much, It's our right to do so. But, The Social implications are profound here, Are we truly better people individually, or do we only benefit from living in a more enlightened era?
