Though some Ediacaran Fauna likely did survive beyond the Cambrian Explosion I very much doubt this find is in this case. It would help his cause if he gave the location, rock type and formation name.
I'd tend to believe Dr. McLlroy as some of the most famous Ediacaran deposits are in Newfoundland. This also resembles some other types of worms and not the frond-like fossils the article is talking about. If Retallack had bothered with the above data this could be resolved quite easily.
