In public presentations, physics professors Auguste Meessen (in 2012) and Kevin Knuth (most recently in 2023) have displayed a distinctive image as photographic evidence of a "Faraday effect," ostensibly caused by a powerful magnetic field surrounding a UFO. The image is derived from a Super 8 movie shot by Ray Stanford through an airliner window on December 4, 1980. In a new article on Mirador, I report on my detailed investigation into the image's history, and evaluate various far-reaching alien-tech claims that Stanford and others have made based on images derived from the movie.

I remember Chris O'Brien speaking about that movie in hushed tones on The Paracast. It seems to have convinced him and I wonder by extension how many others may have been swayed by his opinions.

If Stanford had something useful to contribute he would have by now.

Critical thinking is a hard thing to come by and advanced degrees don't always mean advanced judgement.
