I have always had the sense that the vast distances found between objects in the cosmos were once the exact opposite and all we know of and vast amounts more, was the one solid mass in a completely inert state we know gaze through.

The causing of a fault maybe due to external forces or internal, like we experience here on our piece. Tectonic shifting on a different level could have been the flame to our primeval soup.
