I have been pondering an dubiously unethical social experiment.
I sometimes get lost on you-tube, surfing the crazy conspiracy sites, looking at all those nutty videos showing the easily debunked ghost, UFO, and people i hairy overalls pretending to be big foot.
But as much as I know they are fake, on occasion i get the hair on my neck stand up.
I get spooked. The common sense part of me says, idiot, use your brain, but the caveman part of me says,
"Grab Club, hit object, run away"
A lot of these sites that sucker so many folks by my assessment are run by none too smart people.
It occurred to me after, what if some really smart people decided to start up a fake you tube channel.
People who have genuine smarts and skills in certain areas.
OK so before you call me a boof head, I am not really including myself in that category.
I am sort of a jack of all trades but a master of none.
I am a little like McGyver
You would lock the doors and call security to have me removed if i tried to enter your laboratory.
But in the post apocalyptic world, trust me, you would want me on your team
I can turn a washing machine into a land-rover If I need to.
i am nor psychologist, or anthropologist, but when I look at some of these mad conspiracies, I see a re-occuring formulae, Time and time again.
It seems to suck (some) people into your mad idea, all you need to do is this.
Take a handful of indisputable facts.
Take into consideration peoples common fears.
Go grab some loosely similar wild arse conspiracy.
Substantiate and connect with some more related but utterly irrelevant facts.
Then summarize with a wild conclusion that plays on the conspiracy vulnerable s fears.
An bingo, you got yourself a, reptilian president, an alien base under the Kremlin, or a ghost in a house.
So finally I arrive at the point, (sorry, I waffle, I know it, but can't help it )
How much fun would it be to make a you-tube channels called something nutty and suitably enticing.
And use the incredible brains trust we have here to invent conspiracies, exaggerate stories, and twist the truth.
Just for the fun of seeing how many followers and how successful it could end up.
Imagine if it went Viral
I am not sure how the money side of things work, but I believe that you-tube channels that are successful with lots of followers can be very lucrative.
It could be an awesome fun social experiment,
And a money maker as well.
With the brains trust here...hell the sky is the limit.
Thus we return to the ethical dilemma....
